Would be interesting to know how many losses we have starting as favourites?
Understrength Broncos, Roosters at home, Knights away come to mind
I would not say favorites on paper, rather favorites in our own narrative.
The Roosters game we were definitely underdogs.
They were 5th on the table and in form, we were down in 8th spot.
The Warriors were missing Tohu Harris, Luke Metcalf, Temaire Martin, Mitch Barnett.
Dylan Walker was at stand off. Montoya was moved to center, Vailea the points leaker was the other center.
Our bench was decimated:
Sifakula
Lussick
Sirronen
Ale.
I thought we did well to lose in a tight match in poor conditions given our weak team we fielded.
We were coming off a brutal loss to the Storm.
The under strength Broncos simply played like a full strength side in their defence. That was the game where we first tried our new attacking moves and the Broncos stopped four try's some of those stops were brilliant, but as an aside from the form guide, the Warriors turned their season around in terms of their attack after that game. I see it as a watershed in our season that we had the courage to move on from and keep attacking....which lead to the big wins that came after.
In the past the Warriors after a loss like the Broncos would have lost their confidence and stopped trying the new attack, we did the opposite, we poured it on. I give the Broncos the credit for stopping us that night.
From that side we were missing:
Dylan Walker
Jazz Tevanga
Wade Egan
Mitch Barnett
So that is two losses with a crucial spine member missing and some of our best players.
As for the blardy Knights game, yes we should have been favorites there...we got caught out against an honest hard toiling side that is now beating the Melbourne's of the world with their gritty no bs style and making a run for the eight.
It is possible we play them in the finals, if we lose a game and they win their first up finals match and other results pan out. I would like to see that....
