The best way to compare Blair is with himself, so I have. Blair 2014 vs Blair 2013

Games Played
2014: 6
2013: 6

Minutes Played
2014: 352
2013: 387

Touches
2014: 91
2013: 77

Runs
2014: 64
2013: 61

Metres Gained
2014: 489
2013: 465

Tackle Breaks
2014: 6
2013: 3

Tackles Made
2014: 135
2013: 125

One on One Tackles Made
2014: 8
2013: 5

Ineffective Tackles:
2014: 5
2013: 2

Missed Tackles
2014: 16
2013: 22

Tackle Effectiveness
2014: 86.54%
2013: 83.89%

Offloads
2014: 6
2013: 4

Line Breaks
2014: 0
2013: 1

Handling Errors
2014: 3
2013: 1

Penalties Conceded
2014: 2
2013: 7

So overall the stats show that Blair's discipline has increased quite well and his work rate has increased, given he's had more touches, runs, metres, tackle breaks, tackles, offloads and one on one tackles this year than last year, while playing 35 minutes less than at the same time last year

To me its not a huge difference. Is it just because the team is killing it and we aren't relying on him. I think he is like a role player but a really good one. He won't carry a team but he will do lots of positive stuff that helps so long as the rest of the pack are going forward.

Less minutes and higher workrate.
Noticeably heaps fewer penalties and missed tackles. Discipline in defence.

The comparison also is wide running backrower 2013 and lock 2014.
Closer to the ruck and more involvement forced upon him.

Positive signs anyway.

Would love to see his stats at prop last year compared to these.
He was very good at prop last year when he was forced to work in the ruck.

Two seperate interviews on tv today with him talking about how good he is going and how he has turned it around. A bit f**king early! Six games into the season after his last two horrible years...... Id be more worried about my game than talking myself up in the media.

He maybe getting ahead of himself again....although did anyone see T-Rex play for the Bulldogs tonday ? now for all his talent and size that guy makes Blair look like a work horse with the amount of bludging he does !

Blair was again on a different level. Is this the same guy we had playing for us the last couple of years.

I don't know what has changed but Blair is a completely different player. He was awesome today.

Coaching and structure. He's always been a role player and I think our previous structure (or lack thereof) didn't allow him to get in to his zone. Now he can play his role and trust that those around him will play theirs.

Huge improvement.

Its also he is not a fringe backrower.
Is playing the centre of the ruck which is more suitable.
Plus he is doing more front on D rather than lateral when on the fringe.
His offload has emerged and gives him anoher dimension.
Going great ATM.

Blair was awesome today, each week this year I've said 'that was the best game he's played for the club'

He just keeps getting better.

Probably been one of our best for the last few weeks. If he keeps this form up for the season then I would say he has earnt this salary

When he does the fundamentals of the game well, his little 1%ers that he says he prides himself on look a whole lot better. There were several occasions in the game today where he closed down a very potent attacking play that the Eels had going on.

So would you re-sign him if his contract was up?...i'd say yes ..even at the money he's on...he will get better for us still

Tough question. I think for the dollars he is on, the performances he has had since he signed with us and the other options we have no.

If it was a reduced contract then I would seriously consider it.

If he keeps improving at the rate he is going then we may very well want to resign him. Seriously, he used to be one of the best back rowers around when he was at Storm...if he somehow regained this form but transferred it into his role as lock then we may end up thanking the old Sheenius. It will be the very definition of the word irony.

That was really bad but then again he was really good apart from that error. He hit hard and did everything right.

He went a bit offload crazy today, was good otherwise but costly errors at bad moments are too much a feature of his game. He has to be a bit more selective.
