The Bunker

The bunker went to a new level today.

Rewarding Josh Morris for a blatant blocking play by overturning the Roosters try.

Just a next level display of awfulness. The only people in Australia who thought that was no try and a Dogs penalty were the ones in the bunker.

But you know the drill, "we got the call right, move along nothing to see here. I'm Tony Archer, a genius answerable to no-one".

The best part of it was that the moron in the bunker said "Ferguson denied Morris an opportunity to compete for the ball, WTF? He was never trying to compete for the ball, he was only trying to impede Ferguson.

On another note, I look forward to an explanation as to why the bunker felt the need to intervene and overturn a scrum that was a 50/50 call to begin with but not let the referee know that Tolman should be sent to the bin.

The problem is that the TRY/NOTRY call from the refs each time... Segayro clearly scored but yet no try was tipped and then not given

Doesn't seem to work for the roosters, 5 of the last 6 decisions that have been sent up stairs in our favour (try if we are attacking, no try if we are defending) have been overturned by the bunker. At least 2 of them should have stayed with the on field call if they are being consistent.

no the video ref is and the increasing reliance on the video ref to make a decision. The bunker is just the latest response to the problems the introduction of the video ref has caused. Watch games form the mid 90's. So much more enjoyable.

In the TV deal they should have put a clause in that stated that no commentator was allowed to give an opinion on a ref decision and that the TV director wasnt to show 64 replies of every ref decision point. Then we wouldnt need the video ref as the mistakes that will always happen when a human is involved wont be obvious and jumped on so much.

KFC would need to find some new marketing ploy though.

get rid of the video ref and then you and everyone else will be complaining every week about all the obvious things that get missed

no pleasing some people

Having a whinge is part of the game though, VF. For me, when things didn't go your way in the old days, in the back of your mind you could begrudgenly accept the ref didn't have the best view or something like that. It's when they have all the technology money can buy and still get it wrong is what does fans' heads in. Easts were shit in a poor game yesterday but the fans were robbed of a possible grandstand finish yesterday thanks to the VR.

The bunker is no worse than the video referee. It's the exact same shit only we now get to hear the thought process which makes it easier to know exactly why they made their wrong decisions.

I do hate how sometimes they will have 5 looks to overturn a decision and others it's one glance. Segeyaro scores what looks like a try and theres a camera which seems shows him grounding it... or likely grounding it. But they play it through once and don't go back to that one. Don't zoom in to be sure. Then in another game you get several replays. Fully zoomed in and focused angles that allow us to be confident in their decision.

Atleast do each call consistently. Teams can be robbed of 4 or 6 points through half sssing decisions like that. Quiet often for the other team to score moments later and effectively be up to a 12 point turnaround. It seems to happen several times each week. As does one players grounding it with control while another player has lost possession for seemingly identical groundings. Consistency is the key issue. Just as it was with the video referee.

Making a simple game complicated is the problem, if we can't have 'the ball carrying arm touching the ground' at least f**k off 'try/no try'. Saving the bullshit with all replays at normal speed would keep the game the way people pay to watch it

Absolutely spot on. That was just awful. Archer will defend it to the hilt.

On a different note, the bunker has come up with an answer to the TRY / NO TRY referee thing.

If the Roosters are attacking, ignore what the referee said and say "NO TRY". If the Roosters are defending, ignore what the referee said and say "TRY"

It takes all the guesswork and anger out of the situation because everyone knows the outcome before they even go upstairs. Makes it nice and simple and everyone's happy.

Although, if your team aren't the Roosters, this might not be a solution that suits your team.

Roosters supporters are just a bunch of F***ing whingers!
Don't blame the bunker that your pathetic team cannot hold the ball... For 3 years the Roosters had all the luck!!!

I guess when your coach is the biggest sook in the NRL the fans cannot be expected to be any better.

Thanks for that

Do you or do you not agree that Morris was only trying to impede Ferguson in getting to the ball and had no intention of making a play for the ball himself?

Do you or do you not agree that if the bunker sees fit to intervene and reverse a scrum call based on flimsy evidence, they should also intervene to alert the referee that a blatant professional foul has occurred and a player should be in the bin?

We had all the luck in those 3 years except we received the least penalties of all teams in that period. Of course Des Hasler never whinges about referee's does he? Go back to throwing bottles at players/refs and wrecking trains you deadshit.

:cry: Roosters are a dirty team who play a spoiling tactic, they'll always give away penalties for obvious infringements to stop momentum.
Roosters are a Scum club, scum players, scum coach, scum supporters...
Bunker has been awesome this year, I love how Roosters supporters cry every week about it, it must be doing something right:lol::lol:

This is so true. The double movement rule is a good example.

The refs use the Roosters to offload the frustrations that are part and parcel of their occupation, knowing that they are the most heavily penalised team in the NRL. The Roosters "reputation" will come back to haunt them whatever the situation.

Tighers disallowed a try. Bullshit. Milford tackled someone without the ball. Most blatant milk you'll ever see.

Good decisions from the bunker and also good refereeing generally as usual.
The refs have been good again this year in the face of increasingly difficult refereeing conditions thanks to cheating coaches. Here is an idea, run less decoys into offside positions coaches! Be more adventurous elsewhere, be gutsy enough to pass the ball inside your own half and on the first. Be less predictable, less obsessed with completions. Stop blaming refs.
