The Comic Book Film Thread *** SPOILERS ***

I sat through an entire run of the Star Wars films in universe chronological order and I have to say that after doing that TLJ sits higher in the list than it did previously. It still sucks, but the reality is most of the Star Wars films are f**king awful.

They're all junk.

But fun junk.

I can definitely say the Snyder Cut is better than the original
More exposition and Cyborg benefits the most from it. While the CGI is a lot better I still don’t like the way Snyder uses CGI. Still looks fake.

It a darker movie. A good example is the scene when they bring Superman back to life. He’s almost like Homelander from The Boys. Some extra scenes make the whole sequence more suspenseful

Less humour, but that’s ok. Some scenes don’t need the humour. Seems Whedon did the re-shoots just to wedge in some lame jokes into scenes that didn’t need them. I didn’t notice Henry Cavills bad CGI covered moustache in this, so not sure if it was all original shoots or the CGI was just better?

Third act looked better visually as well and because of the exposition earlier in the film you feel more invested, it was more intense

Overall better than original, more epic. More watchable.

Hahahahahah!!! Zack Snyder went on a charity livestream that had Jeremy from Geeks+Gamers on it, and the very first thing he did was publicly distance himself from Geeks+Gamers and said he didn't support hate groups!

Jeremy got f**king owned!
I don't like his movies but good on him for kicking back against those twats.

Not all of it...

Attack of the Clones is painful as f**k. Nothing fun about that one at all.
In my memory I always thought Attack of the Clones was the best of the prequels, but when I did my recent rewatch it was terrible. But, the other two are as well. Maybe it is still the best due to the massive Jedi fights. I've talked myself around. ;)

My family were doing a Star Wars marathon over the summer holidays.

I dropped in for 3.5, Original Trilogy and New Trilogy.

I know it goes against the grain but I loved TFA and ROS.

Back to comic movies, kids had taped Winter Soldier off TV. Got watching it and forgot how decent it was. I then went and splurged on the MCU blu rays and now back at Iron Man to go through them to Far From Home.

Winter Soldier was f**king awesome... I think even more so for me as I wasn’t familiar at all with Bucky in the comics so the big twist hit me perfectly.

kinda like my old man with Ragnarok... he didn’t watch any of the trailers and promotional fluff... so when Hulk came out his reaction was pure shock... I was really jealous TBH...

.

The CGI'ing out of the moustache was all reshoots as Cavill had the facial hair for Mission Impossible, which he was filming at the time. Paramount wouldnt let him shave it

TFA is great but I have to disagree with you on ROS, it sits with the prequels to me, but I've only ever had the one watch, no rewatch, but the fact I haven't wanted to rewatch it is quite telling.

Maybe they’ll do the Abrams cut in a few years??

Just got through the Snyder cut, was it better?? Hell yes!! Was it worth it??? Probably not. But it was set up rather well for the two sequels.

Typical Snyder, looked awesome with some great ideas and scenes but he couldn’t quite pull it off and it’s a bit of a mess.

That last scene set up a perfect sequel
Leto redeemed himself with just one scene

The Snyder Cut takes a monumental shit on the Whedon Cut and is infinitely superior in every conceivable way. It doesn't just add two hours of additional material, it cuts out probably 30-45 minutes of Whedon horseshit. Gone is Whedon's usual adults-acting-like-teenagers lame comedy. No stupid Russian family. The Flash doesn't need advice from Batman on how to use his powers to save people. Superman isn't hauling whole buildings around.

The end product is something that is - unlike the Whedon Cut - actually coherent and makes sense, with all characters given equal footing and importance, most notably Cyborg.

Best of all it doesn't even attempt to be a film that is supposed to be marketed to kids.

lol so glad they cut that horrible family, and the Flash got to something meaningful instead of just pushing a pick up truck.

It was pretty clear after seeing the Snyder Cut that all of the worst parts of the Whedon Cut were introduced by Joss.

Anakin Skywalker talking about sand getting in his dickhole was a total cringef**k, but nothing is worse than Superman describing his death experience as.... "itchy."

Yep, and all the best bits of the theatrical cut was done by Snyder. All the unfunny jokes gone as well.

TBH, all the "so much better than Joss version" rah rahing from fans is not really useful as a gauge of how good it is, as these are seeming like partisan reviews rather an actual rating of the movie itself.

The Joss version was a mish mash of two directors and two styles, this is one director and one style. IS the quality more like 300 or more like, well all of his other films. ;)

“Better than Whedon’s” is a low bar but it really is a million times better. As far as I’m concerned the Snyder Cut supersedes the the theatrical cut and we can now erase Whedon’s version from our memory.

But the movie on its own is still great. Epic is the the best word I can use to describe it. It does have problems with pacing and probably didn’t need to be that long. But I wasn’t bored when watching it, which is amazing for a 4 hour movie
It was the intriguing all the way through and the extra exposition scenes allows the audience to be invested in the characters more, especially Cyborg and Flash.

As an avowed non-Snyder fan those comments give me worry as that's him to a tee for me. At any rate might watch it tonight since the weather has cancelled my evening plans. I'll probably treat it as a four hour series though and watch an hour at a time.

There are some clearly defined chapter points that break the film down into around 8 or so television series length episodes. If i recall correctly it was originally going to be released as a mini series. In any case it is designed to be viewed over several sittings if you don't want to binge the whole four hours at once.
