Apparently Soundwave touring announcing a long overdue tour by a "punk band" tomorrow.

If it is who I want it to be....then I can't wait that long!

New Jersey quartet The Gaslight Anthem will return to Australia in May to tour their new album Handwritten with shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

The tour will be the third Australian visit from the band following tours in 2008 and a return with Soundwave Festival in 2011. That first visit way back in 2008 saw the band playing shows at intimate venues including the Annandale in Sydney, Arthouse in Melbourne and Rosies in Brisbane.

Five years on from that low key Australian debut when the band was gearing up for the release of their breakthough album The ‘59 Sound Gaslight Anthem have graduated to playing huge headlining dates in front of thousands of fans. They now have four albums in their arsenal as well, including 2010’s American Slang and their 2007 debut Sink or Swim.

Frontman Brian Fallon says that Handwritten is closer to the sound of The ‘59 Sound, rather than American Slang.

Sunday, May 12 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney (Lic A/A)
Wednesday, May 15 – The Palace, Melbourne (18+)

This is why I love the Melbourne music scene. You can go on your onesie and nobody will care...or in my case I run into at least one person I know and hang with them for the night or go our own way after yen minutes.

Saw Pennywise more than enough times in my late teens/early 20s and the last time at Soundwave with Zoli fronting them but I haven't seen Face to Face in a looooooooong time.

i'll be flying solo again at this show after my mate who was coming with me had his own show to play. kind of disappointing. Should be a great show though, killer line up
