His injuries have been high impact. It seems more bad luck than anything and much less of a risk than Bud or Turbo for example. This could very much just be a Swain - Cam Smith kinda situation, where the younger player is worth investing in. I think he'd be worth the risk, particularly for us and our current situation.

Paps tore his PCL and hamstring at the same time vs Dragons…..then later fractured his knee cap at a severe level. This required pins and plates to put back together with a long recovery. Complications with the initial surgery lead to more surgery and travel OS to a specialist rehab trainer.

That was a 384 day return to playing due to a lack of being able to perform at same level was his own comments. Ie not the same strength range of motion, stability etc in the knee.

Suffered prolonged effects from multiple concussions.

Then a severe fracture of the ankle with another six screws and a plate inserted into ankle. Long recovery also.

I think given his injuries I would be quite not quite as concerned if he was a forward even though the PCL patella knee cap fracture was on record as being worst they had seen for an athlete.

The demands for a full back if his knee and ankle are at 80 to 90% for his career is a concern. Look at Jack Bird and his movement after two x ACLs. He can still move forward and back well but he has lost all his lateral movement and deliberately collapses in tackles to minimise strain. Far from an inspiring return to full performance.

For Paps his knee and ankle are two parts of the body under massive stress and nursing them week to week is quite possible……..like we saw with Dean Young and Joe Ofahengaue and their patella injuries / degenerative etc

But as a FB……..my guess is that he would be a fairly high risk acquisition.

Ie still possible he can get thru week to week but big risk he may not

Gun player though at his best

Well put AG. Won’t stop Haran from making a big play for him ( we got him with a discounted price ! ) Hope Flanners hides the chequebook from him .

Riccio reporting we're going stand with Amone throughout this entire legal drama. It reads to me like if he doesn't get jail time we'll keep him and play him. Weak weak weak. f**k that.
My reading of it is that the club is simply waiting until sentencing before terminating his contract. They usually do this in case something else comes up. He's been found guilty so there's no way they will keep him on the books regardless of whether he gets a light sentence or not. This is just a case of the club lawyers telling the club when the appropriate time to cancel the contract is. In the meantime the club will always say they are supporting the player through the process. Standard terminology.
In saying that, absolutely zero chance of him not getting jail time anyway.
I really don't think the club have had much choice in how they've handled the legalities of the contract situation. I think they've pretty much got it right throughout the process.

Yes- guilty or not guilty, there are always player welfare considerations- the Amones have also flagged they intend to pursue an appeal but usually there has to be grounds for appeal for that to happen. More time lost while that is being determined. The De Belin case, though different in some aspects case, was a massive drain and distraction resulting in a couple of lost years and this is just another disaster for all concerned.
Smelling salts for Flanno!

He did know this could have been on the cards when he took the job on.

Can't see the NRL stepping in to terminate his contract as the risk falls on them. They are happy to use the 'no fault stand down rule' if they see fit and let the clubs take on the risk of being sued for wrongful dismissal.
