I implore you to go see them live. They play the Enmore on 22 and 23 of January then BDO. They will be the highlight of BDO. Also, while Neon Bible is good, Funeral is great. Take a listen to both albums.

Soilwork - "Sworn To A Great Divide"

Under-rated band. Not "heavy" as most other metal bands, but they get some great riffs and I really reckon Bjorn Strid has a mad voice.

I'd be very interested to see if anyone has heard or owns an album in my top list for the year. Mine are pretty obscure as I don't listen to the same old tired pappy crap that most do.

So, without further ado my 10 top albums for the year (in no particular order) are:

Tim Armstrong- A Poet's Life
Willie Nelson, Ray Price & Merle Haggard- The Last of The Breed
The Counterfeit Gypsies- Appropriate Footwear
Dropkick Murphys- The Meanest Of Times
Gogol Bordello- Super Taranta
The Currency- The Currency EP
Lucinda Williams- West
Bad Religion- New Maps of Hell
The Go-Set- Journey For A Nation
Royal Crown Revue- El Toro EP

Yeah I like Soilwork. I mean, I enjoy the whole melodic death metal genre in general - In Flames etc. I've only got "A Predeator's Portrait" and "Natural Born Chaos" but both very impressive.

Of course, I do love the following track with Devin Townsend singing the chorus.

So many albums and different artists I discover have older albums but because I'm only discovering them I consider them to be that year... so here's probably my top ten of what I've discovered this year:

10. Chillout Sessions 10 (MoS)
9. Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion
8. Powderfinger - DDATHD
7. Hairspray Soundtrack
6. No Mans Woman - Various Artists
5. Bloc Party - A Weekend In The City
4. Snow Patrol - Eyes Open
3. Real Life - Evermore
2. Silverchair - Young Modern
1. Muse - Black Holes & Revelations

And as I said, yes I'm aware a number of these albums are from years prior, but this is the year I personally uncovered them.

They're probably not as heavy in "Sworn To The Great Divide", but they're more melodic. I don't know - fans who accuse them of selling out are a bit harsh - I still love 'em.

And Devin is a genius!

In Rainbows is so boring. Radiohead could release an album of whale sounds and people would still say it's amazing.

Yawn...predictible anti-Radiohead comments from people who just don't like Radiohead. I don't like any of the metal or rap or hip hop mentioned in here and I haven't been bagging any one elses opinion. I don't see why you should be any different.

Why don't you actually stick to the post and tell everyone your choices?

Serj Tankian - Elect the dead..

Brilliant album.. If you like System you will like this one... It's basically systems sound with just about every instrument played by Serj only..
