Transfer Rumours

LOL

One of the most laughable things I've ever read. Madrid for a long time were the worst offenders in buying players they didn't need, the one position they need to strengthen is up front, according to the Special One, and they haven't brought anybody in yet. They had 4 or 5 players capable of playing central midfield so they went out and bought Nuri Sahin lol

The only weaknesses in our first XI relative to the rest of the team are central midfield and left back, no surprise we buy a central midfielder, a left side utility and another defender for cover. Not saying we didn't do it in the past, talking about now. City don't need strikers to improve their squad. The only way to improve ours is to boost our depth in the positions I mentioned.

And for the record we missed out on Aguero and Neymar seems to be a January transfer on the striker front.

Marcelo is better than Coentrao, both play same position and are the same age, makes no sense especially at €30m. Arbeloa can also play LB and so can Royston Drenthe.
In terms of CM, where's Sahin going to fit behind Ozil, Kaka, with Canales and Granero waiting in the wings, there's also a plethora of deep lying midfielders in Gago, Alonzo, Khadira, Diarra

I don't know why we bought Contraeo for 30million to be honest, but his utility value will certainly come in handy, even on the left wing. It's all about the depth of the squad; we can't match Barcelona in terms of the first XI, so our entire squad has to be as strong as possible if we are to win trophies. As far as Sahin goes, he will contend with the latter group from what I have read about him; Diarra is likely off, and Sahin is a much better option than Gago. Where will he fit in? I have no idea to be honest. Being a rich club is nice until you have too many options and either use the wrong players or use the squad ineffectively. My preferred squad would be;

Casillas, Ramos, Carvalho, Pepe, Marcelo, Alonso, Khedira, Ozil, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Higuain and then (bench); Adan, Albiol, Contraeo, Sahin, Kaka, Gago and Benzema.

You can already see the issue here; Kaka is too good a player to be on the bench, yet Ozil is in red hot form. Our 30 million utility is on the bench, along with Sahin and Benzema. Then there are all the other players like Canales, Leon, Joselu, etc that should be in the squad. It's maddening.

Here's a slightly fun fact, in the last 3 years, City have spent 221 million pounds on strikers.

Torres

According to the special one he has the best left back in the world and the only position he needs strengthened is up front.

I now know my goal for FM 2012 when it comes out.

Build up my club so I can save Aguero from Man City.

The Guardian's point of view

It's all happening at Arsenal, who are about to sign Juan Mata and Phil Jagielka, but as we've mentioned that elsewhere, we don't need to cover it here. Yes!
[Rumour Mill swings feet up onto desk, being in that sort of mood today.]
Chelsea are looking to pinch Javier Pastore from under the noses of Paris Saint-Germain. They're also after James McCarthy of Wigan, whose contract talks aren't going well. This news has also alerted Arsenal, who need a new midfielder now Cesc Fábregas is doing one, and Liverpool, who don't.
Robbie Keane's attempt to become the first professional footballer to join the 92 Club continues apace. The only player to employ a full-time man with van rather than chauffeur might be moving to QPR.
Craig Bellamy's attempt to become the second professional footballer to join the 92 Club continues apace. The only player with a Pickfords loyalty reward card might be moving to Sunderland.
Manchester United have a few irons in the fire: AIK striker Teteh Bangura, Internazionale midfielder Wesley Sneijder, and Napoli's Marek Hamsik. Joey Barton seems to have fallen off the radar, for some reason.
The West Bromwich Albion manager, Roy Hodgson, needs a goalkeeper. You'd have thought seeing he owes Liverpool some moral credit, he would take Brad Jones off their hands, but Football's Nicest Man (TM) can't be bothered with that and is picking on the Birmingham carcass instead: Ben Foster is the bit of meat he's after ripping from the bone.
Hodgson's successor at Liverpool is sniffing around the decaying St Andrews too; Kenny Dalglish is interested in Scott Dann again, having decided to finally bolster his defence now Liverpool have taken to losing every match they play 3-0.
Actually, it's bedlam at Birmingham: Fulham, Bolton and Stoke are all after Cameron Jerome. Resident Guardian Blues fan Tom Lutz is sitting in the corner of the office, crying, rocking, holding his knees, repeatedly muttering something about the Carling Cup.
And that's your lot for another week.

The Bojan deal is a no win for Roma if he flops Roma have thrown €12m down the drain, if he kills it Roma make a €1m profit

I don't like the deal, but we pay nothing for him for another two years.

If he kills it, maybe we will pay the high fee and keep him, who knows.
