Work Christmas parties. What do we think of them? I had mine on Saturday night. Was better than most I've been to.

Music was too loud though :sarcasm:

Depends on how extravagant it is.
One experience I had was the company put in a bar tab, it was run dry by about 9pm, then we moved onto shots and buying our own drinks. It was a hard night, but damned harder morning.

Another do I had was (same company) hired out vector arena, a who-dunnit- type thing. Free drinks and a meal, they even hired out one of those photo booths. No one really paid attention to the who-dunnit. Needless to say, nearly everyone left a bit tiddly

Also worked at places who do a smaller do's, like a BBQ on the beach, or one company we went on the luge which was quite neat.

I hate work Christmas parties at my current workplace.

It's usually centered around doing something "fun"

This year it's ice skating. Give me a f**king break!

So I'm going home and having a BBQ instead with the missus and the 2 work colleagues who I don't feel like stabbing with an obtusely-business-logo shaped USB stick

My work gives out shopping gift cards, in lieu of a Christmas party. They are the biggest tightarses ever. Christmas drinks are usually organised amongst each other. I don't have a whole lot of interest, because you still pay for everything, and I don't like many people I work with! I do like it when ex staff show up though!

Depending on how much they give and what kind of store the vouchers are for, I dare say the vouchers would be a better option than some Xmas dos

work xmas parties need to be viewed in, and participated in, the right light..

it's a chance to relax and celebrate the year with the people who you spend most of your waking life with (outside of your family)..

it's not:
  • a chance to go nuts and drink as much as you can
  • a chance to tell everyone what you think of them
  • going to be like a party with your friends - you have similar tastes & interests to your friends. generally very different tastes among work colleagues

if you go along, keep it reasonably pleasant all round, have a chance to chat with people you see around, but don't work directly with, you can have a great night..

those who want to kick on and make a night of it at the end of the function will, and do.

Even since there was photographic evidence of a drunken assignation in a photo booth at the iiNet Christmas Party, I've been reluctant to fully commit to them.

You know, as far as blokes go, you could do much worse than D-Rad.

That said, I'd take a week of solid shagging of Emma Watson and just kill myself at week's end.

Let's face it, life won't get any better.

Dial-up internet? Australia basically has that anyway compared to other parts of the developed world. So at no loss there...

Id take Harry potter. At the end of the day a vagina is a vagina. They all feel the same and you have the same end result, only in this case it ruins your life forever. Now come to think of it.. That's pretty much what all vaginas do.

At least by shagging Harry I still get to play xbox afterwards.

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/lindt-chocolat-cafe-hostage-drama-in-martin-place-sydney-20141214-1278cx.html

A man armed with a gun has held up the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Martin Place, witnesses say.

There were also reports that a person was seen inside the cafe waving an Islamic State flag.

There are 20 people inside the cafe.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said officers were called to the shop about 9.45am on Monday, and there was a police operation under way.

The Channel Seven newsroom, which faces Martin Place, is being evacuated.

Hostages in the cafe could be seen standing beside the windows with their arms in the air.

A large number of police are in Martin Place, and are telling people to stay away.

Trains between Central and Bondi Junction have been stopped during the operation.
