We are like the only real traditonal team left in the comp who has had the same name and colours through out it's existance.
My point was it doesn't matter if your a traditional club or not. If the Roosters have been around for 100 years you would think they would have their own junior system in place and use their own junior players. They don't and They have no excuse.
Storm are still a young club and are growing each year. Rugby league in Australia needs to expand out of NSW and QLD.

Problem is though, they are not growing, hence no local juniors. Dont you think that WA who has had a local junior league for 50 years have more premise in the NRL?

I would love to see them back in the league, but I wouldn't chop out Melbourne to do it.

why not?

WA have a lot more to offer in regards to players. that's more than Melbourne can say

isn't the object to get people playing the game?

If channel 9 actually showed games at a decent hour on a regular basis (rather than putting them on at 2 am in the morning), then it would recieving much better ratings.

The audience is there, really the NRL needs to put there foot down and get the games televised live on Fox sports on Friday night in Melbourne, so it can be watched at least a decent time.

What happened to WA first time around?
I think they should of been put back in ahead of the gold coast.

You realise that SA is more AFL mad than Melb.

At least NSW has ex-pats in Vic. Who the hell would want to live in Adelaide.

It would be great if every state had a team and given a real chance to grow.

rubbish

the first FNF game was on at a decent hour there this year and it was up against nothing and rated fairly poorly

a few years ago i'm sure all their Saturday 3pm games were shown live on 9 Melbourne. again nobody watched

i think the NRL structured the draw especially so 9 would show them

you'd boot the GC before the Storm

WA and the GC both offer more than the Storm ever will

they never should've been punted and Melbourne should never have been introduced. League took a step backwards in doing so

GC had a few cracks but I didnt say i would boot them I just said I would of chose WA over them.
Should we boot the Raiders then? They have always recruited most of their players from the QLD comps.

Yeah but going by your logic, your telling me that clubs with no junior base should be punted?
So teams like Melbourne, Roosters and lesser extent Canberra should be punted out of the comp?
When I say lesser extent Canberra not 100% sure how their junior system works, but it's always appeared that they just go to QLD and get their talent from there.

you haven't been paying much attention to Canberra then

the Roosters shouldn't be punted. relocated maybe

Melbourne should go though. there are other more promising areas than that sh*thole

Roosters should be relocated to the central coast as they have lots of juniors down there but no footy team. They have a large number of their supporters who live there already.

How many local juniors are in the Canberra first grade squad?

That's a likelyish first grade Raiders team with the locals in bold. A lot more of the fringe first graders are locals.

3 Queenslanders - Zillman, Logan, Costigan.
All the rest are country NSW except Bronx Goodwin who is from Perth.

*EDIT - Colin Best is from Sydney

I was sure they rated in the 300's on that Friday night, though it takes time to build an audience and channel 9 needs to keep showing the game on the tv to build the market.

First step the NRL could take is making sure that all the storm games are shown every Sunday afternoon with a NRL highlights of the rest of the games afterwards. It really doesn't matter if they are replaying the game from Friday night, because nobody got to watch it anyhow at 2am. At least the exposure would help people understand the game better and showcase it every week at the same time.
