No players , but after watching a few games and seeing the scores so far. This competion is in real trouble 2 first grade times - North Beach & South Perth. The rest should be in resevre grade.

Some very big scorlines in reserve grade so far which is not good.

The Under 18 North Beach , South Perth Joondalup with sharks struggling with numbers and the travel.

Not so good for the devlopment of the game in the West.

I am unsure want the plans or thoughts of the WARL are but the alarm bells must be starting to riing.

Perhaps you can shed some light on this matter for me.

I have never seen such poor quality senior competion for some years and future looks very bleak.

No-one's turning up. We're only averaging 10-12 people to training each session. There's apparently a few people who keep saying they'll come to training, but they haven't done it yet. In fact, only one of these people have actually come to a game ... once.

It's a sad state of affairs to say the least. 9 years ago, there was 16 full teams. Today: 5 teams, and a lot of them are struggling with numbers. Not good.

The one year Rockingham gets their act together for a while and everyone else falls apart. (apart from the Souths/Norths).

Watch for some developments out of the next Board and next Mondays Presidents meeting......

Something needs to be done when an area like Joondalup with all its development is not able to field senior sides.

If I remember correctly the WARL board meeting was going to be the answer at last months meeting. In the past month we have seen Eastern not feild first grade - Joondalup withdraw from reserve grade - Fremantle struggling to field 2 sides - some very one sided results in all 3 grades , which indicates something is wrong - Under 18 The sharks struggling to field a side and deal with the constant travel , it is great to see them remaining in the competion as a 3 team copetion is no good.

What sort answers do you expect from the WARL next Monday.

One would be introduce Zones - this would stop kids from the Sharks going to South Perth, if you live in that Zone you must play for that Club.

Well, the results are in. The WARL is completely re-structuring the competitions. Instead of writing this in here (since it's not about WARL Results), I'll start a new topic.

Possible Zones

North - North Beach/Joondalup (lack of numbers)
Eastern - Armadale/Midland/Canning
Perth - South Perth/Applecross
Port - Fremantle/Willagee
Southern - Rockingham/Coastal

If we (Armadale) merge with Midland and Canning, we would be able to field.

- 1st Grade
- 2nd Grade
- 3rd Grade
- 2 x SuperTag sides
- Under 16
- Under 14
- Under 13
- Under 11
- Not so sure about the one 11 years and under, all i know there is a fair few juniors down at training, and they have a great coach.

Im sure the actual competition will be a lot tighter, and be more profitable for the clubs involved.

Joondalup vs Southern Sharks

Joondalup showing that even with injuries and people not turnin up (12 players), we still have a quality team, good to see southern with a full team (the 1st time this year!!!). but we were still to strong winning the game VERY convincingly winning the game 70 sumthin - 20 not really to sure on the score but feildo will be able to tell us the exact score ;-). next week will see us travel to North Beach again to take on the sea eagles.

Giants continue our HOT form against the sharks on the weekend, due to the sharks having only 9 players most of the game was played with 9 on 9. rockingham showed some spirit with a couple of tries in the 2nd half but it still wasnt enough to stop the MIGHTY giants. this win has put us into 2nd spot on the ladder with north beach leading the way in 1st. this weekend well see a fiery clash between the 2 top teams North Beach and Joondalup.......GO GIANTS!!!
