Yep, NZRL simply cannot blame the media for the absolute crap way they've run the game over recent times, and for me that is a far more important thing to change and get right than the coach role, simple as that.
Slightly off topic, I laughed like hell when I saw after the first One Dayer the Black Caps are now hyped to 'whitewash the poms!' Not bad from being the worst team in forty years last week! ;-)
The NZRL though have proven what a total joke they are, and I still believe things are going to get worse before better, as they seem in denial. As always will be delighted to be proven wrong

But to go along with that, the NZRL haven't lived up to all the stuff the articles have them lined up as doing either, goes both ways

I saw that one tonight, was cracking up. The said that Patel said we were going to win the series 5-0 because we were a better ODI side than them, Waited to hear Jeetans words, and they were actually along the lines of "We have to continue to have the confidence and belief that we are a better one day side than them, and hopefully win every game"

Fortunately, the NZRL have done everything within their power to avoid confusion among the general public.

Oh, wait... :sarcasm:

I just heard the Mad Butcher on Radio Sport. He said that he would expect an anouncement with regard to the Kiwi coach this weekend or Monday - Doug Golightly the host laughed.

The MB also said that everybody will be pleased with the new coach and he he supported the coach 150% ... Bennett?

The Good Old Man Butcher strikes again !!!!!

The appointment (hopefully) of Mr Bennett will be great for RL in NZ as well as a great shot in the arm of the RLWC tournament.

The Kiwi players will be pleased - now how do we get Benji, Inu and SBW and others on the field at the same time in the black jersey ??????

AND A CONFLICTING REPORT :

http://www.stuff.co.nz/4396971a1823.html
The New Zealand Rubgy League is expected to announce that Stephen Kearney will be the new coach of the Kiwis at a media conference later this afternoon.

Fairfax Media understands that the NZRL has appointed the Melbourne Storm assistant coach to the top job, with long-time target Wayne Bennett expected to take a mentoring role.

It is thought that Bennett will provide the experience that Kearney, who has yet to coach first grade, lacks but the Brisbane boss did not want to take on the head coach's job.

The NZRL have called a media conference at trheir headquarterrs iun auckland later this afternooN.

Do Fairfax articles always have such creative spelling and punctuation?

Brisbane Broncos head coach Wayne Bennett has been named in an advisory role.

Both have been linked with the coaching job for some time following the resignation of Gary Kemble.

Now they just got to get on with it. They're unlikely bed fellows but I can see it working.

I hope this doesnt kill what could possibly be a long term oaching career in the NRL/International by bringing him in too early.

My thoughts as well. also WTF is an advisor? is he sitting in the stands next to him during the game? or does he give him a little pep talk every 6 months over the phone?
