We Will Beat Penrith

Actually without that champion player a team will crumble in the big games. We saw that in our finals appearances between 1997 and 2005.

A more balanced team is capable of more consistency and isn't dependent on the availability of their superstar, but the only premiership winning team without a such a player that I can think of was the 2010 Dragons. Although maybe Gasnier counts anyway.

The only team we have beaten through the middle this year was the Dragons.

You carved up the Panthers at Parramatta. The Parramatta attack was quite exceptional in this match, and Hayne outstanding in the second half after being quiet in the first. Last night Parra attack was pedestrian.

A lot of players who had blinders in the earlier game were not sighted last night. The hooker for one. Radradra was dangerous whenever he got the ball, which wasn't much.

But we didn't beat the Panthers through the middle in that game, we only matched them. Where we won it was out wide.

Peats has been injured for the last month and losing Lussick last night hurt us. Hopefully Mossop adds something.

* As great that he is I don't think there is one truly "great player" past or present who would not have played last night due to exhaustion. Hayne has more maturing to do and no coach should have to massage his ego. If he was not injured, he should have f**king played. This isn't the EPL where we have two full squads with no salary cap.

* Mau is an animal and the best secondrower in the club.

* Junior Paulo will be a top shelf prop whilst Lussick is our best prop with daylight second. Mannah was thinking about his explosion which is due about midnight tonight.

* Is it time we put Pritchard in the 14 ? As good as Peats is I think we are exhausting him. (There is that f**king word again) This is really the first season he has played where he is expected to play 80 min and I think it is starting to affect his form. Yes I know he picked up an injury.

* We really missed Tonga last tonight. Anyone who mentions Morgan's name in the same sentence should be banned from the forum.

* Ken Edwards should go straight into the side. I would also be tempted to give Tanginoa a go at the expense of Terepo.

* I didn't think Jo Paulo was that bad, if anything he at least gave the boys some type of opportunity out wide.

* Felt sorry for Hunt but he really is a flyweight. Sio a winger and no fullback.

Agree on all counts, particularly the first point, though I think we continue playing peats for 80min. He just needs to shake his injury. Does Edwards take Gower's spot on the edge? Or Sefs spot in the middle?

Usually when the medical staff highly recommend you don't play a game, you listen and don't play.
I don't know, maybe some of you lot know better than medical professionals and the coaching staff themselves.

Hardly an issue of someone having their ego massaged. You lot just love to overreact as a jerk response to every loss, it's pathetic to watch...But amusing nevertheless.

i still have no problem what-so-ever resting hayne .... he is the key to any success - playing him after that tough game on wednesday would have been asking for trouble - this isn't tiddly-winks soccer ..... if its the sole reason we lost a game then so be it

Would he have played if it was a semi? Or does medical advice have to be the final say?

of course - that is the end of the season, do or die - nothing to lose or gain by resting him

the guy has had a run of injuries - i reckon he's a risk to play 2 games so close - especially after what wednesday was

Nobody admires him more than I but he does have a massive ego. So do I. Take it or leave it.

i agree he's got a huge ego .... but i don't see this as an ego thing at all - and probably only partly his call .... i would have rested any player after wednesday's game

Don't take it out of context lol.
It was a regular season game, medical staff advised not to risk it. No shit he'd play if it was a finals game, but that has nothing to do with last night.

This place in unbelievable.

The same blokes in here whinging last year when he did his hammy that he should have been rested after origin.

Seriously.

The blokes who took the field were good enough to beat Penriff.

They just didn't aim up

Your first point is pertinent, i remember years ago Craig Bellamy talking about when Inglis turned from good to great and it was him playing through injury/exhaustion from Origin........this is what Hayne needs to do within himself!

Coaches will always protect their best players but the player is the one that needs to tell the coach they are right to play, this is what Inglis did to Bellamy and he is by far one of the most influential players in the game!

Fair enough mate. I just hate losing and need to blame something on that shit performance. It's a Balkan thing. I blame NATO.
