and WA's past history / large funding needed.

Is that scraping the barrel I hear?

Was that the same company that gave American Financial Institutions AAA ratings before the GFC hit the fan?

They are not my question marks. Jokers Wild raised them.

A report commissioned by yourself isnt independent and outcomes are based on projections which generally the person commissioning the report gives the expert. The outcome is always tainted unless the report is truly independent so this is meaningless and a waste of money.

CQ Bid is delusional if they think the state of Qld will build them a stadium now , what part of 100B in debt do they not understand?

I said the bid would have to justify their financials sure. I also mentioned that the Qld Gov would expect a fairly decent return on any investment they made into a stadium in the area and that will come mostly from the rent charged to this NRL franchise as there would be no other major tenants in the area.

Does this independent accountant who has done the "stress test" know what kind of rent the Qld Gov will expect?

I'm sorry but that t-shirt and the logo is screaming bogan to me at the moment. Good luck with your female merch sales.

Pirates confident west will be won
MANY sports fans in Perth haven't even heard of Darren Lockyer but one of the architects of a western bid for an NRL team insists they will catch on quickly.
And you get the feeling the West Coast Pirates' bid boss John Sackson thinks it is nothing short of a sporting disgrace there is not a national league presence in the western frontier.

"It is really hard to swallow to be honest. People in Perth are just like those in Melbourne; they absolutely love their sport,'' Sackson says.

"The people of Western Australia just need a rugby league team to believe in.''

The WA Rugby League will use the success of local players at National Rugby League clubs as a key element in the bid for a franchise in an expanded NRL competition.
The WARL believes its pathway for aspiring young players is showing results.
Eight youngsters have signed for NRL clubs' Toyota Cup development teams since the WARL set up the Reds under-18 SG Ball national competition side three years ago. A ninth was drafted from the WA under-18 squad.
Six players who started their careers in Perth have also gone on to become NRL players.
WARL chief executive John Sackson said junior development was a pillar of the expansion bid.
"One of the main jobs of the WARL is the development of the game at junior level," he said.
"That is the future of the game and we have the infrastructure in place.
"There is evidence that the structures, including our academy, are starting to deliver results.
"The Reds in particular have provided the stage on which young WA players have been able to showcase their skills, attract the attention of talent scouts, and consequently be recruited into the NRL club system."

The last comment regarding "Perth Glory have threaten to leave as ground capacity will be reduced", it's why Sage shouldn't have a franchise, what does he expect to happen when the ground is being improved, of course some sports are going to be affected.

He's been whinging for years that the facilities need improving, now they are he is whinging that it is happening! It is just a grab for compensation from the Govt, they should tell him where to go. When the NRL moves in they won't need Glory as tennants anyway.

Crowd capacity reduction for perth glory would be a good thing if anything. They attract about 8k punters, 12k max on a good day. I cant remember when they last sold out, or came close to.

When the NRL moves in they won't need Glory as tennants anyway.
nib does need pg to be a year round stadium though, which is probably what the govt want. Agree that sage is a dipshit though

NRL Players back WA for Expansion

National Rugby League players are overwhelmingly in support of expansion and most favour the addition of a Perth based team according to the annual Rugby League Week magazine’s Players’ Poll.
Along with questions about on field issues, the magazine polled players on their attitudes towards expansion and the performance of the Independent Commission.
Of 100 players polled 88 said they backed expansion. Those who voted yes were allowed to nominate one or two candidates. A Perth franchise received 66 votes, with Brisbane Bombers 33, Central Coast NSW 22 and 11 votes for others including Central Queensland, PNG, and second New Zealand based franchise.

Would hope we go with someone with more experience. We need to get our structures in place across possibly 4 grades and would like to see a coaching team put together for that need.

When the Western Australian Rugby League decided to ditch its long time association with the ‘Reds’ branding and set sail on their NRL expansion bid as the West Coast Pirates, they knew they were taking a risk.

A month after the announcement, it looks as if the WARL board of directors’ brave move has uncovered a treasure trove of potential riches.

“The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive,” WARL chief executive John Sackson tells SB Insider. “You never know what might happen when you change a brand you’ve been living with for several years, but we drew a line in the sand, made a commitment and the response has really been overwhelming.”

The organisation, considered a front runner to be added to the NRL when it next expands (possibly 2015), has seen a surge in social media followers and merchandise sales within the first month.

“We’ve got incredible demand for our merchandise already,” says Sackson. “We’ve got T shirts and caps flying out the door. We’ve sold more Pirates material in a month since the announcement than we sold of Reds merchandise in years.”
