Are you suggesting that they're aren't Logan based Titans fans and that Bears fans don't exist therefore having an established support core in place already for the CC? You guys have to SERIOUSLY start visiting SEQLD and CC before talking up/down the bids...

Probably are but in significant numbers? Are you saying there aren't Wests, Manly, Parra etc etc fans on CC? It's the same argument. Being concerned that an Ipswch bid will draw fans away from existing Brisbane clubs is no different to being concerned that a CC team will draw fans from existing Sydney clubs who are also financially struggling.

Of course it's the same. Except in Bear world where nothing makes sense and everything makes the Bears' bid better than all the others.

''It is one of the aims of Channel Nine that one of the two free-to-air games on Friday night is a game with some Queensland content they can show live into Queensland, and they are choosing the Broncos clearly to maximise ratings,'' McGuirk said. ''Last year the Broncos had 16 Friday night games … it will probably be about the same this year.''

Crawley said Channel Nine would support the admission of a second Brisbane team playing out of Suncorp Stadium.
Don't know why Channel 9 are saying they would back another Queensland team. Even with 3 Queensland teams at the moment, the Broncos are the only ones getting a look in at getting picked by 9...

After the season the Titans put in last year, are you really surprised Nine are reluctant to schedule them? Same for the Cowboys the year before. And that's the whole point, the more Queensland sides the higher the chances that more than one of them is actually performing in any given season. More sides going well equals more choices for the networks to schedule.

But a new team is sure to struggle at some point in its early years. Without a solid fanbase for the team (which will take years to grow), ratings would be poor for that team. Therefore, Nine won't show them. Therefore, sponsors will desert them. Therefore, they will struggle financially. And thus the vicious cycle continues. In the meantime, the Broncos will get all the cream and stay at the top, both on and off the field.

They're not syaing they will back another Q'land team, they are saying they will back another BRISBANE team. they know that the Broncos rate higher than the Cowboys or Titans in the important capital city rating region. It's why they want a second Brisbane team, I am sure they are not feeling the same love for the CQ bid.

the Gold Coast is part of the Brisbane Oztam catchment

just like how Gosford is part of Sydney so the Bears are a silly idea as we don't need 10 Sydney teams and no network has supported them either

That is correct.

... but but but channel 10 has them on the game plan... surely the 10 network want Gosford in a national league in preference over a second Brisbane side and Perth?

TV boost for city's NRL quest

Joel Gould | 15th March 2012 5:00 AM

THE WESTERN Corridor NRL bid has received another boost, with Channel Nine confirming it wants to see another side playing out of Suncorp Stadium should the game expand in 2015.

The Australian Rugby League Commission is likely to look at expansion in June, with the Brisbane Bombers and Western Corridor bids the two contenders in south-east Queensland.

Channel Nine's boss of sport, Steve Crawley, said yesterday that Suncorp Stadium was "the best stadium in the world and if you could have a game coming out of there every week that would be great for rugby league and great for the broadcaster ... so having an extra team in Queensland would be a wonderful thing."

Western Corridor bid chairman Steve Johnson said that was "great news for the bid."

"When it comes to the final negotiations for the television deal the person writing the cheque will have the biggest say.

"If Channel Nine is successful, and they want a second side in Brisbane, then for the ARLC to get the money that it wants it will have to grant their wish."

Johnson said the feedback from Ipswich people to playing out of Suncorp Stadium had been extremely strong.

"The people that I have spoken to in our local area who support the Broncos say they will support both sides," Johnson said.

"It is easier and quicker to get to Suncorp Stadium from Ipswich than it is from most suburbs in Brisbane that require a complicated bus transfer - but from Ipswich, it is get on one train and you are there."

has any network ever gone on record as saying the CC is a you beaut idea?

Not to my knowledge.

Any talk at 10 has been comming from advertising ties to you know who, and the pannel of the game plan have been supportive.

The network itself hasn't said anything though. 10's bidding stratergy as Doc outlined in the TV rights thread would likely leave them looking for targeted content in Qld and NSW on Fridays and Sundays.

With pay TV taking up Qld content, and needing contingency for at least one Qld side being a lemon at a time, 4th Queensland in Brisbane metro is a certainty.

Ipswich have my support. they're a massive untapped market, and if they want to share Suncorp with the Broncs then fair enough. I am still of the opinion that they could do with their own Stadium, though.

The Ipswich area already have the most juniors in the country so i think its only logical that the NRL step up and give them a side, i would like to see a stadium built for them down the track, because playing out of Suncorp is a fair way away for the Ipswich folks, but it would work to start with.

Ipswich to be included 2015!!

Perth Reds and Ipswich jets should be offered the next two franchises in the NRL.
Perth because it is booming and we need a presence there to make the competition truly national. Ipswich because QLD is rugby league heartland and must have another team.

PERTH REDS & IPSWICH JETS-2013.

Agreed.

The second Brisbane team will be playing out of Suncorp Stadium, guaranteed.

I hope if the Bombers consortium wins they are at least forced to change their name.

Bombers seemed to have bombed ran out of BS headlines, the only bloke with cash has run down the road to chase the Titans franchise and they were doing a property deal to fund the team...that was once a good idea at the Titans!!!....the plan was to buy Albion Park Paceway which the new state gov't says isn't for sale.....all over for them unless they can find a rich wood duck!
