Yeah, here they tend to...but the regional differences in Asia are such that they can be the same dish in some places. Pad Thai in one area can have nothing to do with Pad Thai in another. That's half the fun of travelling Asia IMO

I love travelling in Asia, especially Thailand and Cambodia. I want to head back in May, although this time it will be with a 6 month old baby. Might be a little different.

Mate...Thailand rocks...street hawker food is the best.

I love the stuff. Always get some each night on the way home after a few beers. Some of my mates were a little scared of it after they go the runs. My stomach is cast iron. One night in Bangkok I tracked down some at around 3am and asked for the meat sticks to be dipped in chilli. A tuk tuk driver ran over and said too hot for you, dont eat it. I disagreed and ate 2 in about 30 seconds. I have never eaten anything so hot in my life, think my whole face went red and I could barely talk.

Always preferred Malaysia and Singapore to Thailand, personally...both in food and, well, everything else. I lived in Malaysia for two years with my family, none of us ever got food poisoning. The hawker stuff is usually much less harmful than restaurant food over there, because it's always fresh, They get ingredients at market in the morning, once they're all gone, they go home for the day and start again the next morning.

Also, I gotta say, the hottest thing I ever ate was a Tom Yum in Alor Setar. Was made by some southern mountain Thais, with scud chillis. Melted. My. Face.

I loved the Thai food in Thailand, the spices are so fresh and tasty, the meat they use was pretty crap though

They always leave the skin and bones in chicken dishes

Denny Crane: Alan, you know, one thing you sometimes forget is, no matter how hard your day, no matter how tough your choices, how complex your ethical decisions, you always get to choose what you have for lunch.
