One thing that struck me and should strike most league fans, is how many people attended the game. It was like a Grand Final. I think the crowd was 68,000. Much better attended even than the crowds at the world's best attended rugby league club, the Brisbane Broncos.
Although one should note that NFL clubs are all at least one city clubs, or represent an area bigger than one city (e.g. New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers) and that the San Francisco Bay area is two or three times the size of the Brisbane metropolitan area.
Still, even the world's most successful rugby league competition has paltry weekly attendances compared to those of the NFL.

Put it in perspective - New York has two teams representing 8 million people.
