What if Jarryd Hayne doesn't make the 49ers cut? Will he return to the NRL?

Hayne's 40 yard punt return set up a touchdown for QB Colin Kaepernick. Hayne's punt return was the play of the game so far from the 49ers perspective.

Tremendous publicity for Hayne and the Parramatta Eels.

The American commentators can't stop mentioning the National Rugby League and the Parramatta Eels.

The new Pirtek Stadium, when built, needs a Jarryd Hayne stand.

Hayne will probably star in the side eventually ,the 49ers are the NFL's Parramatta.

I just tried to watch the game, how anyone who has not undergone the brainwashing necessary to condition themselves putting up with the stoppages and lack of actual player participation in the circus can sit through it is beyond me

Surely any League devotee can see ways of getting the ball across the line the Yanks don't even contemplate, I'd hate to see our game played without peripheral vision

Bang on .. it's just frustrating watching it more than anything.

I very much doubt Hayne becomes a star. He'll always be lower on the pecking order. A 28 year old rookie doesn't scream investment. He's a gadget player at best.

Rubbish. He is the club's number one kick/punt returner. If does more of what he did today he will become indispensable, especially to a team that has few real stars.

Expect Jarryd Hayne to become a $5-10 million a year earner in his 3rd year. And that doesn't preclude him being bought by a top eight team in his third year.

In the part of the game I managed to stomach two exact plays in succession had the tosser, if that's what you call him, throw a ball towards a 49er which landed just inside the touch-in-goal with a defender breathing down his neck

If either of those two throws were to Hayne a couple of metres in the field of play the defender would have no chance of stopping him, so much are the Yanks conditioned to the ball being thrown to the in-goal . . . or is there a rule that says a player can't shoulder charge his way over the line

He's the clubs number one punt returner on a very short leash. He no longer returns kicks and has been splitting the punt returns. He's a long, long way from indispensable. Special teams guys are handy to have, none are seen as irreplaceable unless they offer something else on either side of the ball. Hayne hasn't shown that he does yet.

I'd be very surprised to see him get a third year deal.

Hayne's 37 yard punt return was the 49ers highest since 2013,Hayne ain't going nowhere.

After 3 rounds

Worst offence - 45 total
2nd Worse defense - 93 (Chicago Bears - 105)

Green Bay up next...

Sounds like the Origin period can't come soon enough for them, they might jag a win against teams missing their stars.... but then they won't have Hayne so it could still be tough....
