What if Jarryd Hayne doesn't make the 49ers cut? Will he return to the NRL?

Hayne ain't getting cut,Jed York loves him some marketing and Aussie bogans buying up his jerseys, they will play a preseason game here in Australia to make some more hype and sell some more jerseys to bogan Aussies.

Hayne will be in the NFL for a while yet

Funny sport really, if he came out and scored a 60 yard touch down everyone would be off his back.

Uhh not really. There's plenty of players who make one good play then disappear back into relative obscurity.

He needs to get the fumbles out of his game

Seems that Easts may have him already signed up if he returns

Wonder how that works under the Salary Cap not to mention his notional value ala Teo's attempted return

If he ends up at the rorters we may as well just throw the whole salary cap in the shit bin and let 4 clubs play NRL while the others just die!

No club in the league would have the cap space to sign him for the 2016 season, nor would there be enough cap space at other clubs for a side to dump enough current players to free up the room for him.

If the NRL are smart, they will allow whichever club that were able to lure him back allowances to move players on without penalty i.e. Hayne's full salary would have to fit under their cap, but if that club needs to move on 3-4 other players to make room to other clubs and those clubs aren't willing to take over their entire contract the money being topped up wouldn't count to their cap.

IMO such an arrangement would benefit the club receiving Hayne for obvious reasons, the clubs receiving the players being moved on as they are getting them below cost, and then benefits the NRL in general having the no.1 league player in the world actually playing rugby league.

For what its worth I highly doubt it will be the Roosters who get him. We have a lot of fairly high paid players as opposed to a couple superstars on mega contracts, so in order to get Hayne in our squad we'd need to sack 3-4 players at a minimum in order to free up space (I would do that, but I can't see Robbo buying into it)

Nah f**k him , he can take what a club can offer within their cap. If that happens to be 250k so be it , the NRL topping up players who leave is just encouraging them to try elsewhere on a no risk basis. If I leave a job for another I take the risk that things may not turn out , I wish I had a guarantee I cant lose .

Absolutely not.
Big market clubs have enough leg ups in this "salary cap" as it is
That's f**king bullshit what you've suggested right there

Why would what I've suggested benefit the rich club who gets Hayne any more than the poorer clubs who get to take on offloaded players at below market rates?

Its essentially just a luxury tax which plenty of sports offer.

IMO what I've suggested is much fairer than the NRL topping up player contracts which is the current system in place for luring players back from rival codes. That system allows a club to get their star player and not have to offload anyone in order to do it

Hayne could never concentrate for 80 minutes when he played League, the longer he stays in NFL the harder it'll be to return even if he wanted to . . . good mate of mine was f**ked after 5 years on the dole, lovely bloke but working for a living completely out of the question

If he does come back, Hayne's Salary Cap figure must be at least the figure he was on when he left the Eels

For example if he was 500K SC and 100K TPA at the Eels, he should be on at least 500K SC to any club he comes back to.

I would not like to see him sign at a club for 350K SC and 300K TPA.
I am not saying that will happen, what I am saying is the rules should make it clear that it can't happen.

I understand the NRL are having a long overdue look at TPA's, that is a good thing we need a fairer system which is more of a level playing field.

That is good for the game, when the game is stronger that is good for all clubs, even though some of the stronger clubs come back to the field.

The better clubs will need to get an edge thought scouting, player development and coaching, that is exactly what we want.

I still hope Hayne makes it, or at least has a crack for a year or 2.
Returning to the NRL is the soft option, and I am not sure how motivated he would be.

Does Parra have anything on paper to say that they get first dibs on him if he comes back?

I doubt there is anything that exists that is legally binding. Perhaps if he had found it all too hard earlier this year and decided to come back for season 2015 the Eels could have stepped in to make sure he either played for Parra or no-one as he was originally contracted for 2015. But beyond that, I think he's free to negotiate with anyone he wants to... Even though Scott Seward was trumpeting at the time that Hayne would be an Eel for Life... that was just fluff IMO designed to cushion the blow for Eels fans...
