What if Jarryd Hayne doesn't make the 49ers cut? Will he return to the NRL?

well he wrote this http://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2014/10/15/hayne_announces_move_to_us.html

so if he went to another club then he's not a man of his word

Benji Marshall.

He won't come back. The 49ers won't cut him as he's making them too much money. The fact that they're losing has nothing to to with Hayne so cutting him won't change anything except loss of income.

Even if he goes to another team, he'll still be making more money through endorsements than he would here in Australia.

If he did come back, I'm certain Parra would move any player on needed to get him back.

nah f**k him , he can take what a club can offer within their cap. If that happens to be 250k so be it , the nrl topping up players who leave is just encouraging them to try elsewhere on a no risk basis. If i leave a job for another i take the risk that things may not turn out , i wish i had a guarantee i cant lose .

He will probably end up on the practice squad unless a team picks him up. Considering this is where most people thought he would be to start the season it is a pretty massive achievement to have done what he has so far.

He won't give up. He will have a job again soon, likely practice squad or Detroit may be willing to take a risk, and will at least see out next preseason IMO.

His best hope long term IMO is that a stronger team picks him up. Someone like Seattle who showed some interest initially, might still see potential in him.

Of course, if that happens we probably won't see him get any more game time this year.

If the NRL is ever going to use that elite players fund now is the time. They have the opportunity to bring on three of the best players in the game in one go with Hayne, Burgess and SBW. Nobody would ever buy into it if it's just one player with one team reaping the benefits but if it's three in one go, maybe put some active players on the list for top ups like Thurston as well then I think people might go for it

For his development, if he wants to continue in the NFL, a practise squad is exactly where he needs to be. We'll see if anyone claims him, but he really isn't ready to contribute to a regular season roster just yet
In 12 months time, given the strides he's already made, who knows?

Hope he sticks it out there
