Saw Love and other Drugs today.
It took product placement to a new and creepy level.
It was basically two hours of propaganda for all of Pfizer's best selling drugs, including zoloft and viagra.
The overwhelming message of the movie was that anyone on prozac should switch to zoloft (it has 25% less side-effects you know, or so you are told 10 times during the movie) - viagra is just good, clean fun - and drugs are good.

Tron Legacy, what an epic sh*t film. For a 3D film there sure was 3/4 of the movie in 2D. sh*t film. Of the 15 or so I watched this year it is easily the second worst and the only reason it doesn't beat Wall Street 2 as the worst is because atleast the first one was just as sh*t.

Animal Kingdom and 2012.

Probably the best and worst movies I've seen in a fair while, unless 2012 was in fact a comedy, in which case it's genius. Horrible, horrible movie.

Animal Kingdom is superb.

this is a repost from a post i just made in the currently active Superthread... but i figure it's probably more approriate and likely to be discussed here:

has anyone else seen this movie? was anyone else genuinely blindsided by the sheer magnitude and impact of the subject matter, regardless of how absurd? i had no problem suspending my disbelief and succumbing to the horror of this one...
I think it is one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen and I have seen some disturbing sh*t.

Piranha (the new one)- nothing but tits, blood and gore.

Friday Night Lights- saw it at the cinema when it first came out and tonight was the first time I saw it since. Love my sports flicks and this one is brilliant!

Currently watching Red Dawn.

The Fighter - It's very well made, it's looking likely that Bale will get his first Oscar nomination and win, finally.

Where did you see it eloyd?

Judging from the credits, Bale looks like a shoe in with only Rush giving him a run for his money.

I saw it with magic :sarcasm:

Looking forward to seeing it at the cinema in a few weeks, I'm pretty sure it comes out on the 20th.

My only complaint is that some of the boxing looked a little dodgy, at least they attempted to recreate it accurately though, instead of going all hollywood like the Rocky films.

It's more of a family drama with a few minutes of fights thrown in, so it doesn't take much away from the film.

 nice.

Good to hear Bale is on the way back really, was starting to doubt him after The Dark Knight and the string of films that followed - not bad performances by any means...just ordinary.

Finally? Bale has been outshined in every film he has done except for The Prestige and American Psycho. Absolute sh*t actor, as overrated as they come.

Even giving him the Prestige is a tad generous - I thought Jackman was the pick of the bunch, just.

I would definitely give him props for the Machinist.

How was he in Equilibrium?

EDIT: I'd never call him a s**t actor but definitely a touch overated, especially since Begins.

I'm guessing you've seen about 10% of his body of work (almost 40 films). His first major film role as a 12 year old was Oscar worthy.

I disagree with him being outshone in The Prestige, Pete.

The point of the characters was that Bale was the better magician but was dull in his presentation, Jackman was a better showman. Bale acts exactly as the characters are written, he has proven several times that he can outshine anyone, if that is what the role requires, but he has no problem taking the backseat.

The only role where I cringed was Terminator, that character had no depth (just like the film).

Public Enemies, the Batman films, 3.10 to Yuma, e.t.c. had him playing introverted characters, they weren't showy roles but he did nothing wrong, his performances reflected the characters in the screenplay and the way the directors wanted them to come across on screen (I thought he was amazingly subtle in 3.10 to Yuma).

There is a reason why several of the best living directors have worked with him and continue to give him roles (Spielberg, Branagh, Haynes, Nolan, Malick, Herzog, Mangold, Mann, O'Russell, Zhang).

You'd be hard pressed to find another 36 year old actor with a body of work that rivals his.
