21 & 22 Jump Street. Bit slow getting onto these but I really enjoyed them. Funny stuff. 8.5/10

The Drop

By the guy who did Mystic River with a similar tone. Must be James Gandolfini's last movie (?), and reminded me that I'm going to miss this guy in movies.

An enjoyable movie and recommendable. Set in Brooklyn, gangsters, twists, turns... 4/5

I saqw "21 Jump Street" last night. It is a pretty good watch, nothing groundbreaking though. 3 out of 5.

Limitless- quite good without really pushing through to that epic level, had so much potential though... also ending was poo 7/10

Apparently there is a TV spin off in production for this though which could be very interesting.

Agree with this, it was fantastic until the last 20 minutes or so.
The ending wasn't a total let down but it was flat and a little too neat plotwise.

Gone girl, the first 2 hours and 18 minutes was excellent, the last 2 minutes ruined the entire movie. Can think of a few endings that would be a lot better than that.

Watched Oldboy (recent remake version) last night, seemed to be trying a bit too hard to be shocking, but to be fair my viewing experience was tainted a little by running commentary from a couple of the mates I was with (ooh what does this mean, what does that mean, blah blah blah, just shut up and watch the movie keeeeant), and also the HD TV we were watching on having that "soap opera effect" so I visually couldn't get into it anyway (felt like I was watching actors in a set than characters in an environment of sorts).

Have since read that Spike Lee didn't appreciate the producers re-edit, so maybe I'll flush it from my mind and track down the original Korean version (and watch it on my computer or current shitty awesome TV).

I Origins - Didn't have much of an idea about what this was and nearly turned it off about a third of the way through, but I'm glad I persisted because it ended up a decent movie as a whole.

what was wrong with the ending???

i enjoyed the movie

It was just a massive anti climax. I watched it with 3 other people and when it ended we pretty much simultaneously agreed that the ending was crap.

The ending just left me feeling flat.

These kind of people are part of the argument for eugenics.

It's called frame/motion interpolation, inserting frames to make video seem more fluid which has the ability to ruin films since a panning shot that's meant to be viewed at 24 fps will look ridiculous with interpolation turned on. Until films are shot natively at a higher frame rate it will always look wrong for film.

That and 'dynamic range' audio (compression making the softest and loudest audio the same volume) are the first things turned off on any TV in our house.
