The remake was a mini series. At least that's what I remember watching.
It was pretty good however I haven't seen the original.

Mortal Kombat (2021)

You know when you pick a movie knowing it’s probably going to be pretty shit but a bit of mindless fun? This was one of those minus the fun.

Saw it about a week ago...like you, I did not expect much but went way below expectations.

Yeah it sucked.

The opening scene and a couple of funny Kano lines were it's only redeeming qualities.

I didn’t know there was a remake. That said the original can never be topped cause it’s a snapshot of that time period. Anything else would be a sanitised version of the balls and all original.

It's also directed by an outsider. Ted Kotcheff. I read somewhere the thinking that an Aussie would not have shot such a brutal, confronting film. No romanticisng outback hero's or sanitising the characters or the country.

I watched Soderbergh's new movie Kimi the other night.

It is a tight, brisk little thriller that I thought was pretty well done.

It's essentially about an agoraphobic data analyst who works with a data company on their alexa type tech where she eventually uncovers something in the recordings.

Some might call it simple but I appreciated the visual storytelling and the way it didn't spoon-feed every little thing to you.

Interesting premise, interesting setting.

It asked a bit of you at the end but to me, it was plausible due to some of the hints in the movie, some others I know who watched it missed it but I didn't.

It's a small movie, in story and time, being only 90 mins but I recommend it for a quick, sharp little movie.

7/10

What a tense, awesome film.

Two mates go on a hunting trip in the woods, and something goes dreadfully wrong...

It's nor a horror film with monsters, but it is so, so tense...I thoroughly enjoyed it.

John Wick

Still has some of the best close-up action sequences I've ever seen.

Superman ( 1978 )

Haven't watched this in full since i saw it on its theatrical release in 1978, noticed it was on 7 Mate tonight so thought i would give it another go, great start with with Marlon Brando, Susannah York and Glenn Ford then everything just turned to dross as i remembered it from 1978, better half has never seen it and we just sat there and laughed at all the unintentional comedy.

My God Superman 2 is on now and i'm not going to subject myself to it even though i did enjoy it when i saw at the movies.

I still remember seeing it at the cinema when it released. I would have been 6. My main memories are catching the train from Kingswood to Blacktown & no one being in the first 3 carriages being so close after Granville. I also remember thinking it was great, the standout being Miss Teschmacher making me tingle in the pants region. lol.

Then going to the big toyshop in Westpoint and getting a tub of slime with worms. What a day!

I dont think we had a cinema in Penrith at that time which is odd. I also saw Star Wars at Glenbrook around that time when it came out.

Watched Ex Machina for the first time last night.

It had been on my list for a while.

What a great little movie.

What I love about Sci Fi is when they touch on the dangers of advancing technology.

This beautiful little movie brings up a lot of interesting topics and is thought provoking while still entertaining with a nice bit of titillation for added goodness.

Might be one of my favourite Sci Fi movies.

I rewatched this recently and it seemed like something was missing because I distinctly remembered a missing scene with Miss Teschmacher being fed to the babies by Otis. Turned out the only version of the original Superman that I had previously seen was an edited for TV version that runs over 180 minutes and aired over two nights.
