Overhyped garbage. Th worst film I've seen since Chaos Walking. Also, this movie would be completely panned if the genders were reversed.
Completely agree, it's garbage.

And agree on it being panned of the genders were reversed.

Funnily enough, it still got some criticism for being problematic anyway which is interesting.

Regardless of all that political crap, it just isn't a particularly good movie.

Unchartered - based on the playstation games. I wasn't expecting much but I didn't expect it to be so soulless and cheap looking. Tom Holland has charisma but he's miscast in this.

I thought it was fine until the last act when it just went stupid. I just blocked the games out of my head when watching it so it was just another adventure style film.

somone while at the pub had a bright idea of making the shallows again with a bit of a twist to it and keep the same ending. A very aged Alicia Silverstone easily fending away great white sharks with a plank of wood she has broken off what she is floating off while everyone else doesnt stand a chance against them was pretty funny. Plot armour at its finest

The Hunt (2012) danish film about a bloke who gets accused of touching a young girl that’s a lie. Pretty amazing film that you can understand why people are reacting the way they are. But feel for the guy who never did anything of the sort. Well worth a watch.

Sounds like my type of Euro cinema. No shoot ups, car chases or the usual Hollywood bullshit.

I'll watch anything with Mads in it.

Last Shout is very good and Riders of Justice is fantastic.

I liked Last Shout and The Hunt. I've grabbed a lot more of his movies to watch. Really into stuff from Norway, movies TV shows, they have all been top notch. Not Hollywood cliched stuff.

You'll probably really like Riders as well. Mads is overshadowed by some of the other cast btu still great.

Murder On The Orient Express.

After watching Kenneth Branagh's version of Death On the Nile the other day i decided to watch Murder On the Orient Express which i had on the hard drive from when it was on TV, i wasn't really a fan of the 1974 version of the film, it was top heavy with big stars but plodded along at a snails pace, have to admit i like Branagh's version a lot more, no real changes to the story line from the 1974 version but Branagh made the characters a lot more interesting and it made the story line bristle along a lot faster than the 1974 version. My one gripe is though the CGI effects like in Death On the Nile distracted from the film a bit and the one scene when there is an avalanche which blocks the train from going further, the force of the avalanche depicted looked like it should have knocked the train completely off the bridge and also wiped the bridge out. Overall though quite enjoyable and Branagh does make a good Poirot.

The Batman (2022).

I went and saw this at the movies this afternoon. I thought it was a great film as it kept me completely entertained, when considering the movie runs for 176 minutes is quite a feat. It has the right balance between Batman as a detective and fighting people to try and undo the Riddler's dastardly scheme.

Robert Pattinson is very credible in the role of Batman and in the few scenes he has as Bruce Wayne. Zoe Kravitz give a great performance as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Paul Dano nails it as a very creepy and unhinged Riddler. Jeffrey Wright plays a very good Captain Jim Gordon (the movie is set before he becomes Commissioner, as Batman has only been operating for 2 years). John Turturro is sublime as Crime Boss Carmine Falcone, he gets the right balance between charm and menace, and Colin Farrell was very good as Oswald Cobblepott/Penguin. I thought Andy Serkis was a little underwhelming, but he was not given much to work with.

The Riddler's plot (without giving much away) centres on exposing the lies/corruption behind those in power. The trail even goes to the Wayne family door. It has twists and turns which you don't see coming, and a few redd herrings which when you learn the truth all make logical sense.

Michael Giacchino did the score, and he nailed it. It is very differet to that created by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard for the Nolan trilogy of films. Giacchino's theme for Batman is just a few simple piano chords, but biy does it really convey strength, power and menace in it.

Personally, I'd give it an 8/10.

Red Notice

Critics gave it to this film deluxe, but for what it is - light entertainment - it's fun.

Reynolds is very funny, Gadot is charismatic (and gorgeous as always), and Johnson plays the straight man well.

It's nothing new (you've seen this sort of film before), but it will entertain you for 2 hours.

I agree. Watched this with the kids and we had a decent time enjoying this popcorn flick.

Exactly!

That's all it is - mindless entertainment, and I think it did it well.

Reynolds made me laugh, and the storyline was simple enough to follow that it was easy to switch off the brain.

I think critics expected a film with Johnson, Reynolds, and Gadot in it to be higher calibre - but it was fine for what it was.
