Every professional sport in the country has a team in perth except one lol. But yeh it’s not worth as much as western Sydney, you know cause western Sydneys such an affluent area. Must have been why the gws players were so keen to live there :)
western Sydney might not be the most attractive place to live for some but Parramatta is a fast growing CBD. If I was starting a national comp from scratch I would have a team their before Adelaide at least.

Your conversion from the dark side

I stand corrected. All those nrl players ?
Not all, as some were U/20s but there is still a big chunk who play or have played NRL out of the NRL VIC system. Generally speaking they get poached out of the Storm system before they crack the NRL (Like a lot of clubs do to other club's juniors).

Yeh that’s fair enough that still counts

Perth should have an NRL club and can easily sustain one.

It's embarrassing that our game is the only sport without a club in Perth. The benefit of adding an NRL team in Perth is it will have the luxury of tapping into the local onionball competition for players. The best way to hurt onionball is by poaching their juniors because it grows our game at the expense of theirs. It's also the cheapest and fastest way of getting kids in Melbourne and Perth to take up our game.

Sydney-centric much?
small minded more like. Our sport seemingly is still at the point where the ARLC doesn't believe a club can be sustainable without pokies and where they dont have the ability to grow the game in new markets. Pretty sad after a decade of independent ownership and $4billion of revenue.

What's even more embarrassing is that the idea of a new team in Perth only got broad mainstream support after it was suggested that a long dead team from Sydney could be transplanted there...
I'm embarrassed to say I was once narrow-minded enough to not see the value in Adelaide and Perth. Hopefully we can get a team in each city within the next 20 years. Our game would be foolish to not bring in the Pirates.

Due to the upgrades at
@hbfpark
and the stadium being out of use for a large part of next summer, the Western Force and the Perth Glory may be proposing a temporary stadium setup at the site of the Subiaco Oval.
@913sportfm

More reasons why WA want ( and are preparing for ) an NRL side.

Just cosmetic stuff for the womens soccer wc

Sure, but the Sydney-centric nature of the sport is definitely playing a part as well.

There're plenty of pundits that are only supporting the proposal because they see it as a way to get the Bears back into the comp, and just as many that believe that Perth would be unsuccessful without the Bears "profile" to push interest. Those attitudes stem directly from Sydney-centric views and delusions.

I personally don't think that, but im sure there is a lot around RL circles that do, i think that perth can benefit competitively with NS being involved, and that can happen with Easts tigers or any other current reserve grade side currently, until Perth reserves itself are competing at that level after 5 years of the Perth Bears being around

Okay, but that’s totally irrelevant to the point I was making…

Those benefits can be achieved simply by affiliating with a lower tier team for development purposes.

As an added benefit such an affiliation wouldn’t require them to sell their soul to a borderline irrelevant club from Sydney, whom have their own agenda and will put themselves before the best interests of Perth and the sport as a whole, either.
