When Lockyers gone..Smith to 6/7..Thurston 6/7..Ballin 9 or Bench

When Manly was doing well, Ballin was at hooker and looked so comfortable in 1st grade.

Haha People are writing Manly off after we narrowly lost a game when we were missing

Stewart
Matai
Bell
Lyon
Kite
Ballin
Dunley and
Rose

Give me a break, we are sitting comfortably in second and have yet to field our best side all year

B.Morris
Naiqama
Gasnier
Cooper
Ryles
Woolford
Sims
Young

You play the cards you are dealt.

A good half of our team had less than 10 first grade games under their belts. One is still in school. Hornby back early from a knee injury. Halves have played 3 games together.

Keep rackin' up them excuses.

Maybe if they have some big injuries..

But he could be a great dummy half in the future who knows...

He sure showed signs of it when he got a go earlier this year.
I was calling for him to play FG last year when he was dominating Jersey Flegg

Excellent point. We keep hearing how depleated Manly was yet when you look at who the Dragons had out they were just as, if not even more depleted than Manly were. No matter how some Manly supporters want to sugarcoat it, it was a very bad loss to them and one they should have won regardless of how many players they had out.

That's not to take anything away from the Dragons either as it was a great win by what was a pretty inexperienced side.

matai is no loss at all for you guys... he cant defend. Misses many tackles while trying to put on a 'hit' which usually results in a penalty

Matai is a loss. He usually makes about 150m a game, 95% of that coming out from our own end. And to say he can't defend is rediculous. Sure, he's out of position occasionally but he definitely makes up for that with the hits he brings. He was a key reason we beat Parra and the Storm.

And I'd respond to themanonthehill, but I've learnt not to take anything he says seriously.

150m a game? haha your kidding!
minus the 100 from that... to say he makes 150m a game would be an utter lie!

he has put on only a few hits in nrl. How bout the amount of tackles he misses?

if you think matai is a good player then i realise whats wrong at manly....

Penalty or no penalty, missed tackle or not, opposition teams avoid running down his side.

I'm not talking about just defence, it is also that agro factor which is important, not to mention he can run the ball up as hard as any back rower.

Ice777, hopes this ,make you happy..... Manly are sh*t.

They were still good enough to beat the storm. Both teams were all at full strength. Make of that what you will, without the sugar coating of course!

There are other supporters that think that Matai is a good player, not just manly fans.

What's all this stuff about Manly missing:

Stewart
Matai
Bell
Lyon
Kite
Ballin
Dunley and
Rose

Stewart makes a difference. Kite's OK - altho the Bulldogs made him look 2nd rate. The rest are ordinary (and virtually unknown) and Lyon has been shocking this year. Just quoting names doesn;t mean they would have made a difference.

Good teams have 10 good reserves and don't drop games in 2007 to Penrith and St George Premier League.

You're missing the entire point Charlie, Manly did beat the Storm but it's irrellevant in this particular argument. Manly were then travelling along nicely then and people weren't questioning their premiership credentials or questioning whether the wheels had fallen off like they are now which is exactly the point of the argument.

Those doubts and questions have started in the last month when Manly have lost to 2 bottom sides as well as another in the bottom half of the 8 in their last 4 games. Yes, Manly had some great wins in the first half of the year including against Melbourne, but as mentioned those wins have absolutely nothing to do with what's being argued here and that is how Manly's form has dropped off dramatically in the last month and whether or not they can turn it around or if they are the real deal for the title.
