Justin Morgan...I reckon it's a real shame he's probably no chance of being the next head coach. I don't believe anyone would have the stones to appoint him. As people are saying, it's probably got to be a proven head coach. The pressures on someone like Morgan, someone the average fan doesn't know, would be horrendous. But Justin Morgan is a quality person who I believe has done wonders defensively with this side. It was attitude that saw us fall off 10000 tackles on Saturday, not structure. Our defense has been great for months. He's worked directly under Bellamy - he'll go somewhere else and be successful, I have no doubt about that. I reckon he'd be a great fit for the Dragons if not us. I'd have him but I know the odds are too high.
Jim Doyle HAS to be in a position where he's got someone who can step in by November if we don't make the finals. I know he'd deny it publicly but if he's done his job as a CEO, he has to have canvassed his options. If he hasn't, he should fall on his sword. He has made too many statements saying missing the finals is not an option for us to accept it now.
Can anyone say we have improved under McFadden? Are we better than 2014? Personnel wise we are but our results are no better. We're in exactly the same position as 2013/14, and this squad shits on those.
What jase says is exactly right. If Foran comes, and say we also sign a Sam Moa, a Paul Vaughan or someone like that... can we risk that level of squad under a guy who has failed three years in a row, and has no coaching success at any level nor as a player? He's never won anything. Yet we'lll entrust him with one of the strongest rosters in the comp? Nah. That's how I feel about this year. Injuries no doubt, but I feel like we'd be timing a run near the top 4 with Ivan, a Maguire, even a Toovey. The Dogs are a bog average side coached well sitting in fourth. With our HUGE advantage of having 14 games at home etc etc (all shit I've said before) the coach has already botched it. There's nothing to say he deserves another chance. No big wins this year to hang his hat on, nothing. In fact, how many big scalps does McFadden have in 2.5 seasons? Melbourne twice, gee I can't think of many others.
