Blokes try and milk penalties in every bloody game. Every time they drop the ball they claim it was stripped and some who release the ball intentionally to get a penalty. Blokes intentionally running at guys offside. Intentionally passing the ball into offside players. Getting up claiming a try when they know they didn't get it down. Holding on to a tacklers jumper when he is trying to get off you. Running into players intentionally when Your chasing a kick. Its part of the game. Has been since 1908. It's up to the refs to make the right decision. It was a penalty. A shame the game had to end like that though.

If it was the 79th minute in the GF (its 12 all) and one of our players was hit high exactly the same way Luke was would you object to him staying down ?

Bearing in mind you have no idea if that players is hurt or not, unless you are a Dr, who just so happens to specialise in head trauma.

My God, imagine if one of our players did that.
There would be about 250 threads started on it, and continue on for at least 5 years.

I Agree fwiw. But it shouldn't be. Souths should have won off that set anyway and just ends the game on a sour note. Thanks for admitting it though.

I am a Souths fan and have to say I thought that Issac did take a dive. It was certainly worth a penalty and happy to get the win. I have seen this happen for years. Some players just get up and play on whilst others stay down. Unfortunately you won't get this out of the game. Issac will not be the last player to do this. I guess the thing is when in extra time close to your own line you don't do anything to give away a penalty.

Because it was blatantly obvious he dived. Even if its 50/50, don't give the penalty. Stops players knowing that staying down (or in this case falling as if you were shot) won't get you a penalty.

Maybe players need to realise that that there are several cameras around the place that will pick up any incident, and make sure they dont give away penalties right in front of the goal posts.

I dont really advocate staying down, but getting hit across the face is illegal.

A lot of folks who wanted Souths to lose are making a lot of stupid comments here.
1) Luke got a clip in the head as he was going down.
Had already played over 80 minutes and had given all and then had just ran a hard 15 metres into the Cowboys pack , tackled by two players and given a head clip. He was stunned and tired and hit the ground accordingly.
2) ever seen a boxing match with what seemed like a short sharp tap knock a player down or out ? Ever seen a karate chop which does not appear to be hard break a brick or take out an opponent ? Dummies a short sharp slap to unprotected face can stun.
3) Luke had just done the deed of taking the hard yards to get Souths into easy field goal position. Give him credit for that versus youre negative whinning.

A good game , Cowboys will learn from that , they should have closed the game out! Souths got a chance and won it!

I dont really give a f**k about the dive, it's been done before and will be done again. The fact that Luke and Sandow celebrated the penalty and dive is what sticks in my craw. Both players esteem went downhill in that moment.
