Who will be the Warriors new coach?

This could potentially be a play to get sacked, so he can join the Cowboys for next season. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the job is his if he can get out of his current deal.

Right, I'd take Griffen hearing what Todd was saying. Someone who can teach Rugby League to a bunch of athletes.

I wondered if we could sack an interim coach?

I would say his contract has a get out clause for a top coach job.

Well, this is what you get when you say no to an experienced coach like Toovey.

We will end up signing Griffin or Green, and they will know that they weren't the main priority.

Hard to see the club coming up with a "We got our man" now.
LOL, I am not so sure - they tried that with Matt Elliott... and, I mean, it was Matt Elliott- they clearly think Warriors fans are stupid

I read that the majority of the Cowboy players want Kristian Woolf as coach. If Woolf misses he could be a target for us.If Payten misses the Cows job could he continue as our interim coach-particularly if the Warriors are based in Oz next year? I suspect he might have been tapped on the shoulder by the Cows anyway going by the out of the blue about turn he made-a week ago he was all over the Warriors job.

Woolf would have been my first phone call the moment we sacked Kearney.

Probably too smart to be interested.

Woolf is under contract till the end of next year at least.

Plus, theres no way in hell he would leave a top 4 successful team, to sign with our shithole.

If only we had of signed bellamy those years ago instead of Elliot, how different our team would look.

Every Aussie coach who goes to ESL has an NRL out clause.

If the Cowboys want him he'd be out of St Helens in a heartbeat.

Agree he wouldn't come, but I doubt we even asked.

Highly doubt he would leave the ESL after less than one year. Especially when he has inherited a successful squad.

Hugh McGahan on the radio this morning says he would get Griffin out of whos remaining. Considers him a developmental coach and his work is the reason Penrith are top of the table. Also Brisbane has some good young players that Griffin developed but being mismanaged by current coaching set up.

Griffin was Broncos coach in 2014. So unless all of the Broncos youngsters were developed by the time they were 14-18 then he really had SFA to do with it and Hugh is giving him credit just to suit his narrative.

Panthers fair enough you can give him that, but current Broncos - meh.

Just give it to Morgan or Stacey for 2021 and lets reset for 2022 when people can hopefully freely travel between Aus & NZ.

No one worth their salt is going to want to come here next year when there is the threat of being locked in or locked out of the country.

OK, so Penrith are doing well because of him, but Brisbane should be too but they aren't, so it's someone else. Makes sense. Hugh McGahan talks shit. Having said that, I would take Griffin. Has a strong record of taking teams to finals

Speaking of talking more shit, Cam George said the search for a coach is hard because of the COVID situation (and I agree) but in the next breath said the recruitment drive for players is going ahead well and is unaffected. Phone is running red hot!!

Lara Pitt on 360 said the Warriors only offered Payten 1 year so that’s why he said no thanks as he wants to be a genuine coach, not a stop gap

360 also saying it seems very likely that the Warriors will have to be based in Aussie next season, Warriors spending the entire year including pre season on the central coast with the NRL taking the bill to relocate all their family over there with them and a similar set up for the Storm on the Sunshine Coast

Lot of water under the bridge before then though

Then Lara Pitt is calling Todd Payten a liar. He's either a liar, and he used his father in law's ill health and undisclosed other factors to pretend the 1-year contract wasn't the factor, or he's telling the truth (which I believe) and Lara Pitt is talking shit. He seems like a relentlessly honest guy. What would be his motivation to make stuff up when he could very easily say 'they offered one year and it's not enough'? I mean, he's been forthcoming at every turn. Says Blair is not going well enough, says we only have 3 footballers, he covets the Cows job, that Robinson telling Green he was released blindsided him..this guy has no issue revealing stuff.

And the second part is pure guesswork. OK, I'd probably bet on it being true that we are in Australia next year but no one knows. No one can possibly know. Is that what passes for journalism on that show?

He did also state that there were other factors behind his decision that he didn’t want to make public, perhaps that length of deal was 1 of them ?
