WHY?

wait on , one roosters fan rossy is say the Roosters home figure is 14,000 a game, yet PP is saying 17,000 - so what is it then?

Do your figures count yesterdays game PP?!

So based on the Roosters logic , moving the Cowboys game away from Sydney to the Central Coast was just to give coast fans a go only? And not at the fear of having to try and bump up to a 10,000 crowd again by using a Irish mathematician? ;-)

Do you have crowd figures of previous years.

I want to see what teams home crowds are increasing etc.

The average roosters home crowd so far this year is 14,161,

So that being the case, and PP pointing out the home AND away averages, it is safe to say you draw 4,000 more AWAY from home than you do at HOME?

I wonder how many teams can lay claim to that brilliant effort

The issue is still being lost.

It is safe to say Ed Burton totally gets it, and everyone else misses the point.

How very condescending. Like I said, you're operating under a flawed premise and have not done your home work.

Is over 18,000 in 2002 & 2003 to Warriors games a small crowd? You said you were there in 2002 but neglected to check that the crowd was substantially mis-represented by you. It was also overcast and on the verge of rain. Then you've alleged it wasn't a Roosters crowd anyway. Do you want to have another go?

Where else has you been sloppy with facts?

If the world needs official statistics to sit here to prove points, then what a sad sad world it is.

Of course statistics are never over played or misrepresented are they? Especially at the Roosters?

No one doubts your HOME CROWD AVERAGE IS GREAT.

Do you hear me?! Do you get that?!

In my opinion , from sitting in a nuetral point of view, there were more Kiwi fans there than day in 2002. It never rained, and while on the verge, rain or no rain , the Kiwis were there in far more numbers IN MY OPINION. ( Sorry but I dont think I can get a stat of nationalities for that game )

The Roosters are by far the best team in recent years.

My question relates to why dont they get a SIMILAR huge crowd to EVERY SINGLE GAME?

Rather than having a 15,000 fluctuation from one game to the next?

Does any other club have a fluctuation of this amount? I don't believe so.

I know it would be incomprehensible at a Knights game to have 24,000 against the Roosters and 9,000 against any other team - and it simply doesnt happen.
Going on your logic and love for statistics, its ok to draw 25,000 for 5 home games, but its also ok to draw 10,000 for the other 5. But as long as the AVERAGE at the end of the year, meets somewhere in the middle right?!?!?!?!
Does anyone else hear me properly yet?!

Sportsjock,

We are conesseurs of good football. Although it doesnt make sense when we get good crowds playing your blokes!

Yes there are times when we only get 10000. Yesterday was an example. But when we get 25000 against Brisbane or Newcastle, then what percentage of fans are Roosters? Surel Sid Fogg hasnt got that many buses!!

We dont always get huge crowds, but when you look at it logically, of the 10000 fans there, Id say 9000 were Roosters fans. And Im being kind to Warriors fans..they didnt show at all yesterday. Compare this to say Bulldogs V Easts. You'll get 12000 Chooks and another 12000 Dogs fans. Thats a big crowd for a n 8 team city. Under that analogy Newcastle should get 25000 at every match but they dont.

And we're still 4th on Averages so thats got to say something. Dont count your chickens from one sitting!!

The Roosters crowds dont change much but the visiting supporters is what causes the fluctuation. Some vistors travel others prefer not to come to the SFS. You'll find the Eastern and Western stands are always roughly the same...say 10-12000 made up of Roosters fans...its up to the travelling team to fill the extra 5-10K.

Also, another consideration is a fair few of our supporters are spread far and wide across this great land, so its hard for them to make some games....otherwise we'df have 45000 every week!!

No one goes to see the Cowboys.

17% of fans registered the the Roosters club live in the Central Coast region.

It's a good decision.

Are you critical of Canterbury and Souths for moving games to the same stadium, or is this just a bit more Rooster bashing from the maladroit?

Nice racial slur by the way. You're very sophisticated.

I think moving the game to the Central Coast is a great idea. I am not knocking the idea at all.
The reasons behind it however is very sad.

And while we are at it , the person who moved this thread from the NRL section to the Sydney Rooster section, is deadset kidding themselves.

So every thread in the NRL now dedicated to a team, goes to the relevant team forum?! Of course not.

This is a genuine question, that should be put out there for EVERY fan of EVERY team to discuss. If its contreversial , move it to that forum, but the ROOSTERS FORUM?!

Are you kidding? Unless you just want one person to get outnumbered of course...

I was at the game yesterday, and I honestly thought the crowd was a little bigger than that. I was also at the Roosters game at EAS this year, and I reckon the crowd was more vocal yesterday than the 22000+ at EAS in round 6.
You may get some big crowds, but the majority don't really get into it. There's very little by way of atmosphere at a Knights home game.
Anyway, if you're going to bring up the point of poor home crowds, go and check Canberra's figures for the past few years and get back to me. By my reckoning, they've only topped 20,000 at home twice since the beginning of 2000, and both times were against the Roosters.

Thats a good point Mojo. The travellers may not like coming to the SFS, but jeez they love to turn out at their own home grounds to watch the Roosters!

I agree m0j0 - the Knights atmosphere has gone downhill ( apart from the recent Bulldogs game where it was awesome ).

I think the new unfinished grandstand is one of the main reasons behind that.

And of course, I agree Canberra crowds are rubbish too - but at least they are consistent , they are shit every home game.

And, they dont have half the team the Roosters have at their disposal - and if youve ever been outside in the A.C.T in winter, id stay at home too...

and still nobody has been able to give any reason why the 'benchmark' team for the past few seasons whose crowds are supposedly great are one of the most inconsistant when it comes to crowd support.
rossy, you wanted facts, I gave them to you, you ignored them/changed the subject.
Once again, the subject isn't averages. It's about why Roosters fans only turn up to marquee match ups, do they just come for the event? I don't know, we're trying to find out, but all we run into is "our average is great" I know your average is great, THAT'S NOT THE POINT!!!!!!!!!!

ok, sorry, got a bit out fo control there. I'm just getting frustrated by going in circles.

Personally, I couldn't give a flying fig, your the one ranting here  What I care about is how my team is performing, and to date I have no complaints.

SJ,

I moved it.

And my reasons why.

The start of your thread was

Why do the Roosters crowd draw so poorly at home, when...

So I thought the Roosters fans would be able to help you out. :D

If you had mentioned other teams crowd figures, it would have stayed, as that was talking about the game as a whole, not just one team.

Kaz are you kidding yourself?

In the same opening thread, the Knights, Souths, Penrith and Cowboys are all mentioned.

You've just opened a can of worms, as now any topic that focuses on any player or team, should going on your logic - be moved to the appropriate forum.

It should be moved back Kaz, and if you are realistic, you know it.

It's here to stay SJ, I agreed to the move of the topic. Take it up with Admin if moving a thread that is a direct question and NOT relating to on field performance is that important to you.

 If you can sit there and honestly believe you did the right thing by moving this topic given the topic headlines and threads in the NRL section right now , then you are kidding?

Ulterior motives?
