Spain drew at home with Finland. If they draw with France at St Denis on Tuesday, France should qualify directly and the World Champion will have to go through the play-offs to get to Brazil.

USA vs Costa Rica being played in the middle of a blizzard, massive advantage for the gringos, they're currently up 1-0

Argentina with a nice 3-0 over Venezuela, Messi again played a starring role, set up both goals to Higuain and scored a penalty himself.

Chile losing to Peru 1-0 is a terrible result for Chile

Some results from Europe overnight:

Armenia 0 - 3 Czech Republic
Azerbaijan 0 - 2 Portugal
Estonia 2 - 0 Andorra
Turkey 1 - 1 Hungary
Ukraine 2 - 1 Moldova
Denmark 1 - 1 Bulgaria
Serbia 2 - 0 Scotland
Netherlands 4 - 0 Romania
Germany 4 - 1 Kazakhstan
Ireland 2 - 2 Austria
Poland 5 - 0 San Marino
Belgium 1 - 0 Macedonia
Wales 1 - 2 Croatia
Northern Ireland 0 - 2 Israel
Malta 0 - 2 Italy
France 0 - 1 Spain
Montenegro 1 - 1 England

In Group A, it's already a two-horse race between Belgium and Croatia, whilst in Group B, Italy look good to qualify directly.

In Group C, Germany is already a win off qualifying. Same scenario with the Netherlands in Group D.
Groups E, F, and G are still wide open.

Montenegro have a two point break over England in Group H and Spain lead France by a point after this morning in Group I.

After 3 games we have

Panama 5pts, +2
Costa Rica 4pts, +1
USA 4pts, 0
Honduras 4pts, -1
Mexico 3pts, 0
Jamaica 2pts, -2

Mexico yet to win a game & 2 were at home, thing could get interesting in CONCACAF.

On the other hand, they haven't lost any games either.

You seem to be quite knowledgeable regarding CONCACAF football - why has Panama started so well? I'd have thought they and Jamaica would be the two weakest.

Panama is currently in their golden generation, historically they've been the Central American whipping boys along with Nicaragua & Belize. Before a ball was kicked in the 2010 qualifiers they were expected to get that 3rd spot instead of Honduras, only thing that stopped them was El Salvador on a fairy tale run. Their players then were in their early to mid 20s, now they're 4 years older & more experienced.

I expected Jamaica to finish last in the Hexagonal, the other 5 are the strongest teams in CONCACAF. But I didnt expect Jamaica to hold Mexico 0-0 at the Azteca.

One thing this Hexagonal will show is that the days of Mexico & USA having guaranteed World Cup spots are gone.

Some big matches coming up over the next few days.

Friday (UEFA):
- Belgium v Serbia and Croatia v Scotland is crucial in Group A as Croatia and Belgium are level on 16 points.
- Italy can go 6 points clear in Group B with a win away to the Czechs.
- Group E has a full round of matches with just 4 points separating first from fourth.
- Russia can go 3 points clear of Portugal (with 2 matches in hand) in Group F with a win in Lisbon.
- Group G has a full round of matches with Bosnia currently 3 points clear of Greece.
- Montenegro can go 5 points clear of England in Group H with a home win over Ukraine.

Friday (CONMEBOL):
- Argentina v Columbia headlines Round 13 of qualifying.

Friday (CONCACAF):
- The Yanks head back to Jamaica against whom they lost in the previous round.

Saturday (CAF):
- Important matches include Angola v Senegal and Sudan v Ghana. Tunisia and Egypt can be the first teams to progress to the next and final stage of African qualifying with wins.

The next big matches after the weekend are Tuesday when everybody (including the Socceroos) seems to be playing.

After last night's other Asian matches, it looks like South Korea could be in a bit of trouble:

They play Uzbekistan and Iran in the last two matches. Iran hosts Lebanon next week and Uzbekistan hosts Qatar the following week. If Korea draw both matches, they'll be in the play-off.

And thank f**k the Qatari crooks are almost done for.

Given the results from last night, Australia are at least guaranteed 3rd spot if they beat Jordan and Japan beats Iraq.

A draw or loss against Jordan next week gives Oman a free shot at 2nd spot if they beat Jordan in their final match

Australia will get 2nd spot if they win both matches against Jordan and Iraq. So, we have no excuses as destiny is in our hands

The result with Oman last night was completely irrelevant. We were always assured of second by winning our final 2 if we got a result in Japan.

What is that picture Big Sam it doesn't load? If Korea are on the road - IIRC they already played Iran away - they could be in trouble but aren't Uzbekistan bottom of their group?

Doesn't it? I can see it fine. It's just a screenshot of Group A's table. To summarise:

KOR 11 points, +6
UZB 11 points, +2
IRN 10 points, +1
QAT 7 points, -4
lebanese 5 points, -5

Qatar and Lebanon have played 7 while the top three have played 6.

Tuesday 11/6: Korea v Uzbekistan, Iran v Lebanon
Tuesday 18/6: Korea v Iran, Uzbekistan v Qatar

You would expect Iran and Uzbekistan to take 3 points from their home games, meaning if Korea draws both at home, they'll be 3rd.
