A fairly by the numbers edition today...

This is what we learnt...

Nash sent the txt to himself (Oh WTF) so Triple H promptly fired him.

Air Boom def. The Punjabi Duo

Beth Phoinex is #1 contender for the Diva's Championship

Truth and Miz cut a good promo before CM Punk exacted some revenge from last week by downing Truth in a singles match. Post match, Triple H announced the match at Night of Champions was now a No DQ match before accepting Punk's request to put his COO position on the line.

Lawler announced that Zach Ryder would be his special guest tag team partner in his match against Otunga and McGillicutty. Before he came out, the WWE aired a video highlighting all his youtube videos and then he came out and helped Lawler defeat the boring duo.

Randy Orton squashed Heath Slater. The only highlight of this match was Slater getting absolutely NO crowd reaction what so ever. I've never heard a crowd so silent in my life.

And the main event was an improntu 8 man elimination tag match where Cena surprise surprise came out on top.

Other notes
- Alberto was back sooner than expected and was involved in a number of backstage bits.

- Speaking of those bits, the WWE seemed content to cram in as many B grade wrestlers as they could into those segments. McIntyre, Reks and Hawkins all lended their presence to make the likes of Christian and Barrett shine.

- The WWE also announced the launch of their own television network which will debut in 2012.

wow. thanks for f**king up another storyline WWE.

Watching it today, they seem to have some great guys like Miz, R-Truth, Christian etc. but then they are blowing it with shitty writing.

As a go home show, Raw was pretty poor this week.

Show started off with a promo that set up a novelty tag team match where the home town legend Bret Hart teamed up with Cena to take on Alberto and Ricardo.

Morrison and Riley def. Ziggler and Swagger. Ziggler had an opportunity to save the match but opted not to further progressing his rivalry with Swagger. A US Fatal Fourway was announced at Night of Champions featuring all four competitors tonight.

The Miz and R-Truth cut another one of their promos before The Miz def. Kofi Kingston in a typical tag team championship build up match. Not a bad match, just short.

Jerry Lawler and Sheamus def. David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty. Usual squash segment that's occured the past few weeks and just a way for Sheamus to get on tv and look strong. I really wish they'd just get both 'Punk' and 'The Genesis' off tv. They're obviously not ready and burying them just wastes time.

John Cena and Bret Hart def. Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo. Again, it's what you'd expect. Cena puts a beat down on the fall guy (Ricardo) and Bret Hart scores the victory. This match would have been fine if it wasn't leading up to a major PPV, the problem is there's nothing there that makes me want to see Cena vs. Del Rio. Del Rio has been booked poorly and it'd be akin to watching the minor premiers do battle with the wooden spooners.

But really that's just typical WWE booking, hell the Mania main event was booked that way.

Kelly Kelly def. Vickie. Beth tried to interfere after the match but Kelly prevented her with a kick.

And in the shock of the night, Cody Rhodes def. Randy Orton. This was booked as you expected with Henry sitting on the sidelines causing just enough of a distraction for Rhodes to capitilise with a cheap victory. Not a bad match but not as good as their effort on SD. Rhodes has potential, but is just a bit off being a main eventer.

HHH and Punk cut a promo that you'd expect from these two. To be honest, Punk is coming off as a major whiner in all of this and his calls of change are falling through because the WWE haven't really booked for him to achieve anything other than steal the Championship away and getting Vince fired in the process. I suppose he did inspire Nash to come back into the ring, but that's not the change he wanted. In the end, this promo came off really Russo-riffic when really they needed to dial it back a bit. Shoot promos work well in isolation, that's why the Punk promo was so huge the first time. When you're shooting on every show the value of the promos dwindle and all you get are these whiney promos. Punk ended the show by hitting HHH with the mic. after it kept cutting out.

 You got it Marshall.

I hadn't really kept up with Season 2, but I decided to watch the finale and it was like watching a car crash and is right up there as one of the worst moments I've seen in wrestling.

The problem is cro magnon man has no business being on TV unless he is prepared to be a douchebag heel. He is a f**king egoistical charisma vampire who sucks the life out of every promo he is in. Get off the stage asshole.

The only thing I am interested in seeing is Punk burring the f**k out of him on the mic and then following that up burring him in the ring. Don't give me this "I'm the same damn guy I always was" tweener bullshit, nobody cares. Just be the miserable prick you are and bend the f**k over.

They've basically f**ked themselves out of money by rushing way too many angles in a short space of time.

First off, HHH shouldn't be an authority figure in the first place. He's not flexible enough as an actor to handle such a role and unlike other personalities who have handled the role before he's not willing to play ball.

But even then, Punk shouldn't be facing HHH right now. They've basically blown their Wrestlemania wad on one match and the build up has suffered as a fact. Both of them had to establish themselves in their roles before preparing themselves for their feud. Since the WWE were desperate to get Punk back, they should have just stuck him with Cena, that cow still had a lot of milking and Cena at least knew how to balance that feud out. Instead, he's stuck in some filler feud with Del Rio, who doesn't really deserve the belt while Punk is whining about s**t casual fans couldn't give a s**t about and sprouting lines that would give Russo a hard on.

It annoys me when I see companies blow money like that.

I agree Pete, that cow could of been milked through to the New Year. Keep the title on ADR, and have a No. 1 Contender match at the Royal Rumble (surprisingly a SmackDown guy can win the Rumble again). Cena wins and takes the Unified WWE Title at No Way Out / Elimination Chamber, and carries the Title into his match with The Rock. CM Punk can claim to be screwed again by HHH, and build for 2 months into WM. I would LOVE to see a 60 minute Iron Man match between the two, or a relaunch of the 3 Stages of Hell match HHH had with HBK.
