still 2 less league titles than us, and 3 less european cups, just more FA cups. We are still marginally in front.

And we'll make the top 4, im certain of that

(feel free to bring this up and rip me a new one if we come 5th or worse:))

Does this have you sell more merchandise in Asia and North America

No

i like Voronin in terms of the effort he puts in every week but he has to be one of the worst finishers i've seen, especially for a striker. Wouldn't go too bad as a midfielder for a lower club i reckon

Same as Kuyt, but geez, workers who dont score often in midfield are ok, but as strikers, thats rubbish!

meh, 11 goals in 19 league appearences is a bloody good record in his first season in the premier league. Compared to tevez who scored 7 in his first season, and has only scored 6 more than him in an extra year in the english game. Adebayor has scored 13 mor eleague goals than him in an extra year and a half in the english game. Drogba i'll give you but he hasnt been at his peak this season and had one truely outstanding season (last year. It is undeniable that Torres is in the top rung of players in the premier league.

By the way, thanks for the comeback re the cantona comment. Whats that, you have nothing?
Piss of negative nancy

What did you want me to say? Did you want me to argue Cantona didn't kick a fan? I just thought it was funny that Carragher's reaction to rival supporters wearing scally wigs and moustaches and saying "CALM DOWN CALM DOWN" was to jump up and try and fight them. Scouse logic they call it.

Slow day on the Man U thread is it? Or is discussion a word that has escaped your vocabulary?

To be sensible about it (in other words, not talking to ParraDude), Torres is in an elite group of strikers that includes Drogba and Adebayor as well as a few others. Rooney. No it does not include Tevez.

Torres is probably the buy of the year (I could be forgetting someone here, just going off the top of my head), unfortunately he has a lot of dead wood around him.

Hey ParraDude, didn't you label Ferdinand the best defender in England?

No I said he was the best defender in the world, actually. And I stand by it because he has been absolutely amazing this year, bar one or two lazy mistakes. And you talk up Torres, did you even watch your game against us? Doesn't matter either way, he was occupying Rio's back pocket all game so you wouldn't have seen him.

Maybe when your new fairy saviour does something that matters (stealing a point against Boro to help in your fight with City for fourth place?) then I will take notice. But best in the Premier League? Get real. That isn't to say I don't rate him, but we have a right winger who is younger and putting him to shame so don't tell me Torres is the best striker in the Premier League.

And buy of the year? Elano. Anderson running a close second (19 year old Brazillian who can't speak English making a fool of Gerrard and Fabregas in two big games and making Scholes' injury a non-issue when in past years it could have ruined us, bloody amazing).

its pretty hypocritical to attack carragher for that given the actions of cantona (and of course roy keane deliberatly injuring someone).

The difference between the winger and torres is what, ronaldo has been in the english game since 2003 and only hit his straps last season? Torres has been here 6th months and is already playing supurbly (coming off a reputation as over rated in the spanish league to some dominating performances here) and he will only get better. Added to this ronaldo takes penatlies, whilst torres does not. Oh, and look at the team around ronaldo compared to the one around torres, it sh*ts on liverpools side. So its a very stupid comparison between ronaldo and torres.

Not denying ronaldo is a better player, he isnt ranked in the top 3 in the world for no reason, he is a different player tho and it is a stupid comparison.

If it wasn't for the fact that Ferdinand is sh*t, I may actually have respect for your opinion. Don't even try to argue that Man U has ever won a Premiership because of their defence.

You seem so blinded by loyalty to the Red Devils that you believe the sun shines out of their arses. You seem to believe that Torres can win a Premiership on his own - the reality is that he has already saved Liverpool's backside on half a dozen occasions this season despite shocking performances from all around him. He has done everything that could possibly be asked of him.

interesting to see in the rumours section of the BBC sports that mourinho has apparently contacted hicks and gillett adn would like to take over if rafa gets the arse.

Now i wouldnt mind that, half the concern with rafa being fired is there is no one out there to take over.
Mouriniho is a winner tho, we would play just as bad a football as we have but more of a chance of winning with that prick in charge lol
The portugese connection might help us get queresma as well

Historically Liverpool dont sack managers.I know they punted Houllier but he was there 5 years before he was shown the door.
I know theres a lot of talk (and we have relative new owners)but I would be surprised if Rafa got punted.(pretty clear I'm not his number 1 fan too).
Mourinho would be good.He spends a lot of money like the rest of the top 4 managers but his squad is never as large.Likes to use 16 or so players with another 3 if required over the season. We've used 17 in 2 games this year.
Quality not quantity.
If a new manager wanted help I could tip him 5 players to get rid of off the bat.
Playing Luton on Wednesday morning(its on ESPN).
Anyone want to have a guess at the Liverpool line-up?

Yeah I think that would have to be the dumbest post on this forum, ever. Rio Ferdinand sh*t? Right then, at least I know not to bother trolling you anymore, you don't even watch Football.

...except get out of Rio's back pocket against us in an important game. Bullying Derby and saving "Big Four" Liverpool from losing to f**king Middlesbrough does not put him amongst the Elite. You would EXPECT a £20 million striker to score against those clubs. How you can honestly say Ferdinand is sh*t and then say Torres is brilliant when Rio absolutely embarassed him is beyond me. Go watch Tennis mate, it's a game you might understand.

I do understand tennis actually mate - great sport. Watching the Oz Open as we speak.

And remind me again why you're posting in the Liverpool thread?

I wouldn't mind if we had Jose as our Manager next season, as he's a proven manager of champion teams.

However it says in the news that the new owners were going after about a week ago Klinsmann, thank god Bayern signed him up. What is the big hype around him anyway, he couldn't even get Germany in the final of the World Cup.

Congrats to Jamie Carragher on 500th appearence for the reds last night, what a legend.

We won 5-0 which is nice i spose but we should beat a club 2 divisions below us 5-0 frankly. Hat trick to Gerrard and one each to babel and Sami. Carra wore the armband tonight as well.

Exactly, they probably over-achieved if anything.

Still, I wouldn't want Klinsmann at Liverpool.
