Haha, Kewell has been leaving Liverpool for 2 seasons now.

Both he and Xabi will stay at Anfield.

there aren't too many good target man's going around so selling crouch would be unwise, adds that variety in your attack. with the selling of Sissoko, i assume that means that alonso ain't going anywhere.

Playing Chelsea in London early hours Monday morning.
Alonso is out(suspension)still no Agger(right him off for the year)and Torres is probably out too.Rafa says he is out but Torres reckons he might be ok.
Want Torres to play because apart from his obvious ability it means Kuyt will start for sure if Torres doesnt.Just when it looked like a Crouch Torres striker partnersip was looking the favoured option.
Mascherano will fly in from America today so he may be jet lagged after Argentinas friendly.Whispers around about injuries to Babel and Abeloa as well.
Dont be surprised if Riise starts this game.
No preparation at all for this game but Chelsea wont be much better off in this regard.
We'll be big outsiders for the game but a Liverpool side paying with nothing to lose is always dangerous.Got a feeling we'll do ok here.

0-0 othis morning with Chelsea in a dour game. Not too many chances to either team and it looked to be a contest at who would go to sleep first the Chelsea keeper, the Liverpool keeper or the fans in Oz that stayed up to watch it.
Chelsea's best 2 chances of the match were an appeal for a penalty from Joe Cole which was denied.I've seen them given before but was probably the right decision and their only real second half attempt was a header from Riise back to Reina.(yeh Liverpools Riise)
Most of our opportunities fell to Crouch though Babel had the odd go at goal
Stats are a telling factor of what type of game it was.
Corners Chelsea 6 Liverpool; 4
Shots on Chelsea 3 Liverpool 4
Shots off Chelsea 2 Liverpool 6
Free Kicks Chelsea 16 Liverpool 14
Possession Chelsea 52 Liverpool 48.

Hard to argue a draw was the most deserved result to both teams.

As expectd Torres didnt play nor Arbeloa,Aurelio,Agger or HYPIA>In fact we only had 1 defender on the bench.Alonso was suspended.Skrtel played and he did really well.Finnan and Riise were the fullbacks and Carra was back in the middle. He picked up the Man of the Match Award.
Gerrard and Mascherano were in the middle with lucas and Babel and Crouch and Kuyt played up front.
Pennant got a run late in the game but not much for him to do.
Harry was on the bench but didnt get a run(shoudve made the trip for the socceroos)

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will allow £15m-rated midfielder Xabi Alonso to return to Spain in the summer, while John Arne Riise, Peter Crouch, Harry Kewell and Andriy Voronin will also leave Anfield. (News of the World)

some good news there, shame about Xabi.

News of the World makes the Daily Telegraph look like a respectable paper, to be honest.

On this morning's match, once Mike Riley decided that he wasn't going to allow attackers to contest for the ball in the box no matter what, a draw was always going to be the only result. We looked good in the first half and probably should have scored, Chelski responded in the second.

Played Barnsley this morning and got knocked out of the FA Cup 2-1.
It was just like waching the last 10 home games where we dominate the stats and couldnt dminate the scoreboard.
Led 1-0 at half time after a goal to Kuyt(good lead up work from Babel).
Strolled along for the first 20 mins of the second half and then Barnsley scored with a great cross and finish.
This brought Liverpool to life and they hammered the Barnsley goal for the next 25 mins.
Of course we couldnt score and Barnsley finished us off with a great last minute strike.
Man of the match was Steel the Barnsley keeper who only signed for the club 2 days earlier.
Rafa will cop criticism for the side he trotted out but it still shouldve been good enough to beat Barnsley.Right?
No_One day he'll wake up.

Where to for Liverpool?
Rafa's future will surely be decided now by the Champions League Results.
Reina,Mascherano,Torres and Gerrard will no doubt start this week and how many other changes only Rafa knows.
Kewell came on tonight and must of been under instructions to shoot.
He only played 20 mins and had about 5 shots including one that hit the top of the bar.

Similar boat to Arsenal. You were focused on your Champs League game match, simple as that. Rafa knew that it was more important, especially seeing it was your home leg. That home leg is more important than the Champs League. Ask Wenger and Rafa, they'll agree...

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

This is so good I am actually lost for words. We get drawn against Arsenal and win 4-0, you get BARNSLEY and lose 2-1 . Couldn't make it up could ya? What a f**king shambles your club is, bet those memories of smashing Derby 7-0 are long gone, as are the dreams of winning the league... well, ever again . Even the blue scousers have replaced you in the top 4.

What a fantastic season it's turning out to be.

P.S. I still think you'll beat Inter.

tevez(when bought outright) rooney anderson nani ferdinand Hargreaves even carrick are more expenisve than every player we have bought apart from torres.
compare to us buying say torres(good player)
You should be doing better than us, we have a team full of muppets and bad purchases. rafa f**ked up royally after our very good season of 2005/06 when we had a well performing squad and went backwards buying the likes of pennant, Bekkemy and kuyt.

It'll take a while to get rid of said muppets but the purchases of this year, particularly Torres Lucas and Babel are a good start.

All of Liverpool's buys have been the 2nd or 3rd choices on most occasions.

Pennant for example, we chased both Simao and Queresma and rumour had it Mancini before having to get Pennant after not agreeing terms with any of them, or their clubs.

Its a shame, would of loved to seen us with our actual intended signings rather then the trash we have had to end up with as last resort.

Inter losing to Liverpool would be a bigger embarrassment than Liverpool losing to Barnsley.

Inter are Italian heavyweights and European pussycats IMO (and because you love to bite, this has nothing to do with the quality of Italian football). Compared to Liverpool who can now focus all their attention on the Champion's League and usually do well regardless, plus coming off a disgraceful loss like this, I think they'll do Inter.

Would be happy to be proven wrong though.
