Wolfman was a player (like Gutherson) I can see other teams fans thinking they're overrated cos they're generally not watching them every week, at the club level Williams, and apart from the 2013 GF shocker, was an excellent winger. Extremely strong for his build (relatively light but all muscle, bone and sinew), fast and tough to contain. In addition he was such a hard runner, one of those guys where his legs are pumping so fast and hard you're worried about getting knocked out by his knees if you go low in a tackle.

For some reason he was adored by guys like Sterlo. So much so he won man of the match (losing) Origin II, 2017 with stats of:

3 Carl Webb- his entire reputation was built off one hit fresh off the bench at a tiring Blues forward in Origin.
4 Karmichael Hunt- talked up like he was Benji Marhsall 2.0 because he debuted as a teenager and had a step. Unfortunately for him, that step was easily telegraphed
5 Aaron Woods- pea heart.

Kalyn Ponga could join this list, depending on how the next couple of seasons pan out for him.

Players like Anasta, Adam Blair, Soward, Moses seem to get bagged too much to be overrated...

Sam Burgess had one elite season in the NRL, otherwise he was wildly inconsistent. However constantly being in the media had him much higher rated then he should have been. Not in the top 5 forwards of the last 10 years, maybe Around 8-10th


Ponga should be worth $1m+ on talent alone, he just doesn’t care. Footy seems like his 5th priority. Knights should cut him loose and sign a guy like Drinkwater on a third of that money.

The point you make about being in the media constantly is correct. If you're a media darling you'll get paid a shedload more than you're worth. It's sickening the way fox sports for example swoon all over certain players like Ponga now and formerly Burgess.

Yeah, Royce was tough as hell but he was keeping out an attacking force like Ben Elias for no go reason. Menzies was a machine; great motor & back up player.
