My thoughts exactly. He keep saying in the press conference he had achieved everything in league. Clearly a premiership with the Eels wasnt high on his list.
I think because 2009 was as close as he was going to get in his career, Let's be honest, unless a huge change is made, the Eels are a long way off a premiership.
I want them to win as much as anybody, I renewed my membership this morning just before hearing the news, and my wife asked me if I was re-thinking that decision.
My answer was "nope, I follow the Eels, not Jarryd Hayne".
It's a blow, of course it is, but they'll figure out how to win without him, and with the space in the cap he will leave will allow us to sign some quality talent, and the Eels will kick on.
He was going to leave the Eels at some point, right? he can't play footy forever. Why not take a shot now, he isn't going to get any fitter, and the longer he hangs on in the NRL, the bigger the risk he injures himself permanently, and his dream is gone. At least if he tries and fails, he can say he gave it a shot, but if he doesn't attempt to get what he really wants, being one of the best NRL players in recent history won't comfort him much. Premiership or not.
