Name Your QLD Team of the Origin Era

There's no way I'd put Wendell Sailor in. He never shone at the Origin level. 14 Origins - 1 Try.

    2017 Jerseys, Logos, Sponsor Discussion

That wouldn't be too bad. I just think they need to rethink their colours, particularly the yellow - would be better as a Gold/Sand colour. They should also ditch trying to incorporate the sword or helmet into the jersey design. Simple hooped design or solid colour blocks would look better.

Les Murray - expert on "Rugby League culture"

Les Murray by all accounts was a lovely fellow. That article he wrote at the beginning of this thread though was complete garbage.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Whatever the capacity it ends up being, the whole argument that it should be decided by what FIFA needs for a world cup Final is ludicrous. As is the argument that if Sydney gets the Olympics again, we'll have to build another stadium, so we should keep ANZ in it's current configuration. More...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The arrogance of these pricks makes me fume. The NRL needs to get political. Those bastards only sit up and listen if they think their job in parliament is in the line.

The misconception that a player has to play the ball with their foot

True, but it also has resulted in the game being "dumbed down" IMO. Striking for the ball at marker was an art. You had to pick your time and also pick the right player to try it on. Personally I'd love to see rules come back that would introduce some more variety into the game, such as...

The misconception that a player has to play the ball with their foot

I think the positives would outweigh the negatives.

McCallum and Mascord on NRL refereeing standards

Defeats the whole purpose of a send off. Can you imagine - send a fringe first grader on to take out the opposition's best player in a Grand Final? Who's worse off?

The misconception that a player has to play the ball with their foot

I wish they would do it more - for sure. There are plenty things the markers do wrong as you pointed out.

The misconception that a player has to play the ball with their foot

They already do this. We're focussing on how players, who aren't being interfered with, play the ball incorrectly.

The misconception that a player has to play the ball with their foot

I'm sure the rule used to say the ball had to be placed or dropped to the ground and played back with the foot. The current rule is a pissweak change because the officials weren't penalising the incorrect play the balls - so they changed the rule to match what the refs were letting the players...

McCallum and Mascord on NRL refereeing standards

Not only is it a bad look, it can interfere with the play. I'm sure there was an incident years ago when a ref called a Bronco defender out for being off side by saying " stay out of it Corey". Problem was Corey Parker and Corey Norman were defending next to each other and they both stopped.

McCallum and Mascord on NRL refereeing standards

Watch the footage of this game in 1980. The referee is Jack Danzey. First set for QLD he penalises NSW for something in the tackle, then he penalises them again for being offside from the tap restart after QLD find the line. In the first few minutes, the play the balls are done correctly and...

McCallum and Mascord on NRL refereeing standards

You're right. Putting things on report has gotten us to where we are now, with indecisive refs taking the easy way out.

McCallum and Mascord on NRL refereeing standards

Fully agree. If there's one thing that League can learn from Union, it's the way the referees interact with the players. Their attitude towards binning or sending players also seems to be much more clear cut. I wouldn't have a problem if League followed suit, and that any contact with the...

McCallum and Mascord on NRL refereeing standards

Of course. During the off season they should sack Archer, get the rulebook out, send a copy to all clubs and advise that all infringements will be penalised.
