Defenders carrying on after a call of "held"

Fair enough. Like you said. Consistency is the problem.

Defenders carrying on after a call of "held"

Agree totally. It goes both ways. Hard for a defender to just release a player who is continuing to move forward and not submit in the tackle. Having said that - this tends to be more of an issue for one on one leg tackles. Saw the replay of the Sharks and Roosters game. I'm no Gallen fan...

Defenders carrying on after a call of "held"

I'd say they are coached to avoid penalties as much as possible, unless it's been a while and you think you can get away with it.

Rule change needed for next year

Yes, but sometimes players will find themselves offside beyond their control. With the rule currently, If a team makes a break downfield, and gets a quick play the ball. All an attacker has to do is run back and find somebody trying to get onside - throw the ball into them and get a penalty...

    'Tackled-in-the-air' rule

Why can't they just have one rule for all tackles - put the player in a dangerous position or past the horizontal and it's a penalty. Make it a mandatory 10 minutes in the bin and it should deter most.

Rule change needed for next year

Why can't the rule read "if an off-side player involves themselves with play". The onus is then on the offside player. If an attacker decides to get the defender involved, it shouldn't be a penalty.

Rule change needed for next year

Yeah - should not have been a penalty. There is no way he was blocking the pass from Milford to another player. Should be play on and all Parra Players called onside.

    'Tackled-in-the-air' rule

The only problem with the current rule is the refs seem to award a penalty if an attacker is competing for the ball and collides with the defender in the air. The way some refs rule on it effectively means the defender can leap for the ball without contest.

The junior footy weight/age debate is back

Hence the beauty of the weight divisions. The scales don't lie.

The junior footy weight/age debate is back

Hoping it is a success and it becomes the norm for all Junior League in the future.

The junior footy weight/age debate is back

I'm so glad the NSWRL are doing this. Will be very interesting to see what numbers they get, and how many new children play the game.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Townsville Stadium would probably be used for concerts as well.

Get players to place the ball, and roll

It's the Harrigan Effect. The belief that fewer penalties equals a better game.

    Kudos to the Refs

Vee, as a ref - would you say that it would be better to use the bunker only as a captain's call. So leave it out as much as possible, and put the onus on the players and let the on-field refs rule as they see it? The only proviso I would make for this would be that In-Goal judges would be...

Get players to place the ball, and roll

It's not better than it was. Allowing the marker to strike once the ball is on the ground would give the man playing the ball all the reason he needs to play it properly.

Get players to place the ball, and roll

Yes. And how has that worked out?

Lol. Asked you to justify your claim and all you can do is rant to avoid trying to defend your argument. AlwaysGreen is AlwaysMyBitch.

Whatever floats your boat. Stop talking and get posting chump.

Get players to place the ball, and roll

If you've got a sample of games where striking for the ball has ruined the game, let's see it. Put up or shut up.
