What are you more passionate about?

This. Glad someone else said it; the way the media carry on, I thought I was in a tiny minority. All I really see in Origin is a chance for our players to get injured. When we have a genuinely national comp it will become redundant.

    Is the AFL too reactionary?

Whatever the future clarifications, the underlying principle has to remain that first in with eyes on the ball must be protected. It would cause even more confusion if that gets muddied.

Sponsors now want to shaft us!

If the clubs (and for that matter the sponsors) want a real eye-opener they should compare themselves with what a corporate naming sponsorship's worth down in Bleak City. If they're valued that highly down there with comparatively weaker tv exposure...

The Sydney rugby league media - a haven for personal agendas, hate and grudges

I wouldn't hold up the Melbourne press as a shining becaon of objectivity, and as others have pointed out, when it comes to sport at least it has to be the most insular large city in the world. But I've never read anything in the Melbourne press as pathetic as the point-scoring and...

    Folau wants AFL to thrive

Not the brightest spark in the workshop is he? What possible reason could IF have for saying such a thing?

    Channel 9 Melbourne - disgraceful

Exactly. It has everything to do with filling their inner city motels with 60,000 souls from north of the Murrumbidgeee, and thereby making a killing. It has zero to do with love of the game or an understanding of League's great strengths.

    Crowd Watch Thread 2009

God I hope we don't get these sort of numbers, we really should be doing much much better than this.

    Crowd Watch Thread 2009

Let's stop posting about crowds. More attended crap fumbleball suburban game tonight in dud weather than the combined... jeez, I don't get it.

    New Melbourne Stadium

I get really annoyed when my (Melbournian) brothers-in-law keep referring to it as 'that ground they're building for the Victory'.

SBW will not play again this year

Agree, Brutus. Just got back from the pub. All the talk is of League needing free tickets to augment figures and of players racking off and of bloody Aussie Rules crowds. I'm jack of it.

Channel 9 doing more for AFL than NRL

It should. When they're presented with it, they go for it.

2008 Crowd Watch - Final Totals in Post #3778

This is true if my experience at the SCG on the weekend is any guide. Very middle class, very white. Down in Melb there's a strong ethnic base for support of the Australian game; I went to an Essendon-Footscray game last year and there were African, Middle Eastern, and quite a few Chinese or...

Is channel nine running/ruining the game?

It's true...you might almost understand it in Melbourne, I was just down there and League remains as laughed at as it always has been, no thanks to the rights holder. But it seems true elsewhere as well. What I don't get is....why?

If you were (or currently are) a parent to young children...

One day some of you (if you're particularly unfortunate) will hear the immortal words come from your beloved's lips, as I did three years ago, something to effect of; 'There is no effing way he (our son) is going to get involved with League'. It didn't matter what I said. Rationality and...
