    Basically you need 500k popultaion to run an AFL side . Thus WA and SA are cruising .Victoria is feeling the pinch .Tassie does have the population and is a totally AF state ,it's just a question whether the fans will travel . Canberra has 500k but there's RU and RL to dilute the sporting...

    Yes I meant 5k members which tend to be the diehards .Actual crowds vary but they too gravitate to the 10k~11k mark .There's always optimism at this time of the year ,but my point was there wont be any big moves until there are big moves .

    IMO two things are quite obvious . The Storm Crowds have found thier level at 5k . Vic RL isn't going anywhere unless there are some mighty big changes . At present there is more reason for crowds and juniors to dip slightly rather than rise .But we'll know better at the end of 2004 and again...

    The problem has only erupted because some all RU countries started having leagues .Rugby Union Leagues .Calling RL "League" is silly.Pro League would have been good but the RU guys are not all amateurs any more . The French use game-of-13 which is good(untill you have 7s)

    People just dont switch codes like that .The Storm wont loose any supporters .The AFL wont loose supporters .Each has it's own market . Any effect will be in the sponsorship dollar thinning out .More teams =less dollars to go around .
