It isn't

we're being dudded ATM
unders by about 75 mill

they'll be enough interest to get that amount , the amount our sport is worth

How much do think is reasonable to pay to watch NRL?

Kayo/Fox Sports and Binge have 4.3m subscribers.

From that you take off the AFL fans and those who don’t like Sport.

You are looking at potentially 3m people and you expect in 2-3 years when the game expands it to start at $600m?

On what basis?

Alright I'm done.
I'll come back after the NRL has dismissed " Pasifika " or if they include them I'm lost to the sport.

I'm not doing this level of stupid.
That's very dramatic lol.
Who knows what NRL will do, I very much doubt they know at this point in time.
As long as its genuine expansion and not anther Qlnd or NSW team then all good.
Pacifica will be fun watching them try and make a Govt dumb as dogsht idea work, NZ2 will be good for the game in NZ, Perth will be good for the game in WA.

Hang on so you are saying that you won’t watch another game of RL if they go with this Pasifika idea?

I don’t think it is the best idea either but I wouldn’t go that far

This'd be so Rugba league! Expand the game and put the extra game in a sht time slot fans dont want to go to!

The introduction of an 18th team could deliver a smorgasbord of rugby league for fans with the NRL to ‘consider’ having five nights of football on television screens.
It means a return to Monday Night Football could be on the cards.

This is funny: 'Vlandys determination to expand to 20 teams', he hadnt even thought about it until Politis raised it lol

Ipswich is our heartland: Jones talks up NRL expansion

ARL commissioner Kate Jones says rugby league heartland in the Ipswich corridor west of Brisbane won't be forsaken when the NRL expands, as two bid team heavyweights call for another team to be added in southeast Queensland.
Jones, speaking at the launch of Magic Round, reiterated ARL chairman Peter V'landys' determination to expand the game to 20 teams with a Pasifika side right in the frame to be added when an 18th club is included inside the next four years.

Brisbane Firehawks consultant Shane Richardson told AAP that "one of the three teams for expansion has got to be in southeast Queensland".
"In Brisbane you've got two teams in an area where Sydney has six with the same population. The whole corridor between Logan City and Toowoomba has massive growth and we are just giving it up to the AFL," he said.
"It is the old David Gallop saying of 'you've got to fish where the fish are' and there are a lot more fish in southeast Queensland than there are in Western Australia or the south island of New Zealand.
"The Pasifika concept is a great idea but it is a long-term project."
Brisbane Jets chairman Steve Johnson said "the western corridor of Brisbane is the home of rugby league".
"The Dolphins v Broncos sellout shows the rugby league supporters are here. Brisbane is big enough and our financial resources are vast enough for three teams," he told AAP.
"The Broncos, Dolphins and a team in the western corridor are not in competition and they are all big enough to grow their own fan base. They are bolted-on rugby league fans and Magic Round proves Brisbane is the home of the game."

The Firehawks and Jets missed out to the Dolphins when the competition expanded to 17 teams and both had plans for the western corridor of Brisbane as part of their bids.
"I have a lot of empathy for the fact that rugby league has an Ipswich connection and that area is our heartland," Jones said.
"We have to always make sure we keep our heartland in our decision making. We won't rush decisions. We are ambitious, but we will make sure we do this sustainably and we do it in consultations with the clubs.
"We are going to look at all options, but as I have said in the past and as the chairman (V'landys) reiterated today, Pasifika is very strongly in our mind.
"The Federal Government is very keen to see that expansion and want to put their money where their mouth is. We also have 50 per cent of our players from Pacific nations, so that's a great talent base."

Jones said there was "no reason why in the future we can't have 20 teams".
"Our goal is to be a truly national competition and that means expansion," she said.
"It won't be at the expense of existing teams. We want to grow sustainably, so it will take time, but we are investing in the pathways to create the talent to keep our game strong.
"I think Peter said 2027 (for the 18th team to be added). He will be restlessly devoted to growing the game."

I cant believe they are saying a ninth game will only be worth $20mill a year! Another team will cost most of that.

It is what it is

how about for once we praise rugby league for being visionary

you know other sports we are competing with get praised for their efforts
Not sure visionary is the right word if it's not their idea, just being told & paid to do the government's idea

You think the federal govt putting a minimum of a quarter of a billion dollars into rugby league is something we should pass up ?
The money would be better spent developing RL pathways and infrastructure in PNG until port moresby is capable of sustaining its own permanent team than wasted on a bastardised fifo team

Build a high performance centre, set up RL scholarships/Visas and invest in the PNG hunters in the QCup

Set up similar on the other Pacific islands, and potentially also introduce a yearly pacific draft (which like the AFLs draft can also be televised and sold off as preseason content)

The best X number of up and coming pacific talent go up for grabs, with the bottom dwelling teams also getting a leg up with early draft picks, tigers could be getting the best new pacific talent every year

I’m all for expanding to 18, and then later 20. But I can’t get behind any team with a race or nationality based selection system.

Any team must be prepared to select players on ability regardless of birth or ancestry.
Warriors pretending to be a national team was a mistake, reverting to Auckland colours was a step back in the right direction

National teams don't belong in club land
