Well if we’re dreaming, next 40 Years

18.WC Pirates
19. Wellington Keas
20. South Brisbane Sabretooths
21. Adelaide Bears
22. Oceana Orcas (NZ and Fiji)
23. Darwin Crocodiles
24. PNG Hunters
I'd say...

18 WC Pirates
19 Southern Keas (Christchurch based, in new covered stadium)
20 South Brisbane Sabretooths
21 Adelaide Bears
22 Orcas (Wellington based)

Going past 22, the crystal ball gets very hazy.

How about take those 8 teams and make a NRL (lower divison) summer comp? Play all games in the evening.

Pre test: png fans will flock to rugby league and are the most fanatical in the world, they’ll,sell out a 30k stadium no problem

post test: PNG fans won’t support their national team but would an nrl team lol.
Pre test: Perth Red is a whinging, whining brainless AFL fan.

Next 2 teams in are Perth and NZ 2.
We don't know what order.

PNG is completely out of the question for many obvious reasons but the fact they couldn't sell out a small stadium With cheap tickets to see thier national team ( the best the have both home and abroad with some being NRL level) busts the 1 thing they supposedly had going for them .

Team 18 Perth, 19 NZ 2
Or team 18 NZ 2, 19 Perth.

Team 20 is an open race:
Nz3
Adelaide
Central qld
Brisbane
Sunshine Coast
Central Coast

My personal preference would be Adelaide.
This order :
2026 nz 2 out of Christchurch
Perth and Adelaide same year 2030

As for PNG, the most logical thing to do is hold annual fixtures there.
Origin period stands out for these fixtures where under strength teams playing an out of town team.
That's where it starts for PNG!

Its funny how you think that a nothing rep game against the cook islands is somehow the "barometer" for a NRL club crowd, you're sounding awfully like the perf mob, in just dismissing the bid, over what people wouldn't even turn upto that game if was held in sydney, or brisbane... let alone png..
The big takeaway from crowds in png, is that they aren't there to see their team as much as they prefer to see the celebrities from the NRL, if you remember the aus PM13 game like a month prior, that seem to fill out, just to clear their hunters barely get crowds too.. not sure that the bid is heavily dependent on whether there's a full house at santos stadium

Doesn't sound like they will get crowds to a regular club games.
