I dont mind them doing umpires call on hawkeye predicting if its going to hit the stumps. However impact should not be umpires call.

Also I finally get the chance to have a look at the cricket just as one of my pet hates happens. It looks like a great start and the pitch is flattening out a bit (well I assume based on the fact 5 wickets have fallen). Obviously we have had some hiccups overseas but we are in an excellent position.

Another Basin test, another all hopes pinned on BJ and a mate.

My prediction of Marsh v Anderson going a long way to deciding this test is looking good.

Nice toss Brendon. Again. 3 years in a f#n row.

The pitch hasn't done much all day, just enough movement but some really poor shots. Guptill is about the only one you could say got a good ball.

Nothing spectacular about our bowling or the pitch, just a lapse in the normally impeccable kiwi techniques :p

So it looks like we were just really accurate.

Its funny for all of Jidge and Antilags carry on about the pitch as soon as Pattinson was declared out the kiwis should have trimmed that f**king pitch down to the bone. They had as good a chance as Australia of batting on the wicket when it was at its best and Siddle and Hazelwood are good at putting the ball on the spot and seeing what happens.

My view is no team bats well on wickets with a bit of movement. The art of leaving is dead.

No I agree. Just a sly dig at a couple of Kiwis who were certain your batting would perform way better than ours for that reason.

Batsmen want to hit boundaries, not leave the ball

We seem to have channelled our inner Australians this morning

There's little doubt we're a better team (in general) than Australia in moving conditions - seems like this morning wasn't exactly diabolical for batting (or at least we threw a few wickets away with mindless aggression)

Basin will become very good for batting, as above, time for a backs to the wall effort in the second innings

Huh?

We want grass for Boult's swing. Keep the ball shiny for longer.

What you mean is the covers should have come off for it to brown up and dry out a bit? So the first session is not slaughter?

We're used to losing the toss in Welly and batting first. It is just annoying. It will deaden out from now. But our bowlers will have a chance for swing. Clouds forecast tomorrow.

Rule of thumb, get cocky once you've got Watling out, not before :p

I am not cocky I am lolling at you idiots for suggesting that kiwi supermen would blast Australia away. Lets not forget that JJ called Hazlewood a plodder a month or so ago.

You mean if Aus had batted first they'd be all out now?

Well if JJ said that, he has an argument. I never said that. But I see where he is coming from. It prob explains the green pitch. So JJ is not alone in thinking that. We don't serve these pitches when England tours. Just Asia and you guys. But you won the toss, so you're safe for one week. Another toss in a week.

I was referring to pace, as I recall - I like Hazlewood, good Ewen Chatfield type - funny how one off the cuff remark burns so much

Nonetheless, the might Peter Siddle is the leader of your attack
