I saw a couple of our new ANZAC jerseys yesterday, but not a single new heritage jersey.

It was disappointing as I was dying to see it in the flesh.

Complete opposite, saw plenty of heritage jerseys, no ANZAC ones.

Rebel Sport Macarthur Square.

Had one sitting behind the ANZAC jersey.

Looks good. Players fit would look better imo though.

How is it not painfully obvious that the Dragons take advantage of St George's long and feted history?

Sorry Amadaca, but it's not black and white. The club and it's fans continue to incorporate the history of both clubs pre-merger into their history, as do the Tigers. Let them eat cake.

Please don't peddle the 'no heritage' line to dragons or tigers fans.

It's in our blood and on our sleeves. Anything less is like suggesting souths have only existed since 2002.

As for the heritage strips, Balmain circa 1960s and magpies from the 1970s are this years links.

Fans love it. Yes, 2005 was novel, but simplicity and impact go hand in hand.

I don't mean to offend you guys. As fans you didn't choose to merge. Its just that this topic is close to my heart. I grew up as a fan of a club which merged, & it sickened me. I was never, ever going to support them, & Ialmost gave up League altogether before finding the Roosters.

Difference of opinion then. I think its having your cake& eating it too to absorb the Steelers & their playing talent & still try to pretend you can lay claim to St. George's history.

Really Timmah, you're lucky. I didn't spot one.

Cheers Thorson, I reckon I might see a few at the SCG next week. I can't wait to see it on the players, I hope they wear red socks too.

Bears fan????

So was I.

The difference is that there was a deep seated hatred between bears and manly.

That merger was never going to work.

Are there pictures anywhere?

Have to say I don't see it that way

You can see it any way you like. All that matters to us is how we see it. St George never won a single premiership without the Illawarra. When the Steelers entered the competition and St George lost the Illawarra as a feeder area, they weren't able to win another premiership until the two areas got back together.

"Troll," has become the catchcry of the lazy & the glib.

When a member posts inflammatory comments just to provoke a response, that is trolling. You need to ask yourself whether your claim that the Dragons have no heritage was true contribution to the discussion, or just an attempt to annoy Dragons fans.

I know I shouldn't feed the troll. But the St George-Illawarra Dragons are half constituted by the St George Dragons. It's not like St George's heritage disappeared the minute the signed the Joint Venture Agreement. They had their own team from 1921 until 1998. They have participated in a joint venture since then. It doesn't mean that the earlier history didn't exist. The legal entity might be new-ish, but its provenience is anything but.

That isn't how it works. Having embraced the joint-venture, Dragons fans can be proud of the history of both clubs. As a Steelers fan who has become a Dragons fan, I am now also a St George fan. The two clubs are inextricably linked, not just now, but historically as well. St George played games in Wollongong in the 1920's. Even the St George Illawarra players like Dean Young and Brett Morris who are the sons of St George greats are actually Illawarra juniors.

I was a Sea Eagles fan. Still feeling betrayed, frankly. I never even considered supporting them for a second when they re-emerged as a single entity. I hate Manly (but I still have the last ever jersey from 99).

Do you not think its misleading to claim the club couldn't win a title after the Steelers joined because of lost talent when, in fact, you made it to four GFs between 1982 & 1998?

I never said they couldn't. I said they didn't.

My point was, that all of the premierships St George and St George Illawarra have ever won, were won while the Illawarra was part of the team.

I see them as two different entities, which is what they are. St. George, & St. George-Illawarra. Does anyone feel St. George-Illawarra have won 16 premierships after 2010? Of course not. Do you count the Northern eEagles as part of Manly's history? Those clubs have just as many talent links as your guys.

Absolutely!

The official record books read-
St George Dragons: 15
St George Illawarra Dragons: 1
Total: 16

Wests Tigers have also won 16 premierships. 11 to Balmain, 4 to the Magpies and 1 to the Wests Tigers.

The generation of fans who are growing up now will never have supported either joint-venture partner as a stand alone club and will embrace the histories of both. They won't understand why people argue about this.

Do you count the Northern Eagles as part of Manly's history?

Of course. It is a part of their history.

Thanks.

I was going to ask if there was a colour photo of the Magpies design, then I realised it didn't matter.

As a non-Dragons supporter I can say yes, I do feel they have a right to claim 16 premierships

Its not a new club, its a combined club
