The club purposely closes the ends of the ground to save money on security, so that's pretty unfair.

I'm not in the business of shit slinging, they had crappy weather and it's just after the comm games.

But got to NRL.com and this the photo they're leading with

They need to put a big banner up extending up off the fence full of advertisement or club stuff to totally hide the ends. I saw something similar at whatever ground the Dogs v Penrith reserve grade was at this morning.

That's because it's literally a construction site and there's roughly 5 feet of concrete before it backs onto the path, then railway. This is an entire stand, two completely different propositions.

in saying that , that game was never drawing a crowd against that opponent at that time , at that ground

it was some of the worst scheduling Ive seen in recent years
that game was a weekend game .... end of
Only have to go back a few weeks to the Sharks v Dragons 8pm on a Thursday, Roosters/Rabbits last year on a Thursday or Sharks v a Dragons last year at 6pm on a Friday. Sad thing is, you don’t have to go far back to see many dumb scheduling decisions

Good crowd at Gold Coast for a rain affected game! They may be doing something right up there?
I think theywere doing a thank you to volunteers of the GC Comm Games and gave free entry to the volunteers only. I didn’t catch it all but they were really pushing the “community line” and “giving back”. Hopefully this isn’t a one off and the Titans are focusing on winning back the community

Big weekend for Newcastle crowds coming up.

With the Knights in form plus a well supported side in Souths also playing good footy there will be 20k again

Plus the jets grand final will have over 30k on Saturday night.

There is a marketing angle to be promoted for this rare combination. Dazzling double weekend of footy in Newy! I anticipate people will be visiting at large in Newcastle to take in both events. Suggest (weather permitting )considerably more than 20000 for the Knights game.

strange decision to play it at Newcastle , the A league Grand Final I mean
I think its a further reflection of the fall from grace of that comp , the fear they wouldn't get many more then 25 to 30K at Allianz which would be a poor look , so fill the ground at Newcastle instead

anyway
I think its an interesting decision

Yes. Thought that too. But direct air flights from Melbourne to Newcastle happen nowadays. Just hope someone works out a package deal for both games? I'm aware it's short notice however same city and two high profile local clubs against high profile opposition is a good mix. Looking forward to it!

Hopefully a big crowd turns up for Parra v West Tigers today. Think the $20 adult entry ticket applies , $40 family of four package as well as $3 pies etc? Wondering if the marketing people have revisited letting the general public know this!? After a Parra win and a competitive Tigers outfit, a crowd in excess of 30000 is a pass mark. Only top flight game in Sydney today and weather is good for footy and fans.Just hope these clubs that are on free to air tv wear popular and recognisable playing strips. I'd say that would be asking for too much!

Tigers members in free aswell. Should get 25k minimum you’d think, but it’s the nrl so be prepared to be disappointed

Also isn't Newcastle bigger in capacity than AAMI Park these days?

When it was a CC v Newcastle GF at SFS they got 36,000. So taking out the derby factor Newcastle's ground seems an ok choice.

Yes it is bigger. 33000 official capacity. However it can easily hold more. I've been there at its biggest crowd so far Kangaroos v Kiwis - Lockyer's last test. 32927(from memory ?-Plenty of room and vacant seats still at that figure)

Idk how the A league works for grand finals but isn’t it the highest ranked Prelim final winning team gets rights to host the GF? That seems to be the pattern for recent years atleast.

Stupid idea

That's correct. Had Sydney FC won last night the final would have been at SFS. I think the final does go-to the highest ranked participating team's city. This has alot to do with the "tyranny of distance" that pervades Australian national sports competitions. It's a fact that travel and population centres are varied throughout Australia which impacts on the attendance ability of the fan.
