Agree. I believe poor marketing promotion has alot to do with figure. The value for money aspect has not been publicised effectively for this game. It's a good game of footy deserving of the 50000 you have mentioned. Marketing promotion has failed!

Come on stallion get real. You can’t blame this on anything but lazy fans and the fact everyone hates ANZ.
all the members that didn’t go despite having tickets they have paid for plus anyone with a passing interest in either side new the game was on.
There’s no way of marketing that.

Poor marketing is valid. Not once did I hear/read any lead up conversation or advert mentioning the cheaper ticket deals and food pricing for this game on any Radio, tv or print medium for this game. I agree the stadium isn't popular however that hadn't stopped other big crowds turning up. It's poor marketing. Granted their are other factors however my gut feel is it has been poorly promoted.

People keep blame marketing but why? When will fans themselves take accountability?

Every fan should know what team their team is playing if they're actually a fan. It's just a poor culture towards attendance in Sydney. A lot of apathy as well towards the game itself, not just towards attendance.

Only @Stallion keeps mentioning marketing, over and over again to avoid the real reason for low attendances

If a NRL ad plays on the radio/tv, and Stallion didn't hear it, then was there ever an NRL ad?

Just an example. I do listen to sports radio,tv and read papers on a daily basis. Think thats fair. It's not outlandish. A feasible reason I think.I agree the stadium isn't popular but nowhere near enough promotion for this game happened leading up to this game.

It would be almost certain any parra or tigers members would have received emails promoting the game and its free entry, id guess even a casual fan with their teams app on their phone would see promotion.. anz is just shit.

Agree with the ANZ comment but the promotion of this game was poor compared to others like the ANZAC day games.

How much promotion needs to be done for games at ANZ? Everyone knows there’s going to be a game there every weekend. If you’re just a casual fan you would know that.
NRL games in Sydney are not rare events.

They are not as regular as in the past. I've already commented it was a very poor crowd. I've seen other games promoted much more than this particular game and have drawn well. Let their be no doubt their are issues in relevance/cultural significance in rugby league in Sydney. This is part of the problem. I often speak to people whom have grown up with rugby league and they are not aware of who is playing or when they are playing. Things have changed and part of it is poor marketing promotion which I believe is a big factor. People are using things like emailing as effective marketing ploys. That is lazy promo work! For example, many rugby league development people were using emails to send to schools in trying to attract students to the code not so many years ago. The other codes used personal visits and face to face contact. The other codes increased their numbers. Rugby league junior numbers dropped. Hearing a message is much more potent than emailing. The email is restrictive and cannot reach people from other walks of life. It does matter. Make an accessable, visible and audible effort and you are a better chance of attracting more people to a game. Let them know about deals. Unfortunately lazy marketing is not effective .

Well those people are f**king idiots then. Every team plays pretty much every weekend between March and September. Rock up randomly between Thursday and Sunday to your teams home ground and you'll luck out and catch a few games.. or maybe check online? f**k how spoon fed do merkins have to be?

Understand what you are stating but that's the reality of it these days.

What? Its easier to find out anything now that it has ever been in human history. Google it, go to your team's website, nrl.com, this f**ken place, download an app, ask Siri, pick up the paper, ring the bloody club and ask. The reality of it these days is if you wanna know something its easy to find out.

But what is effective marketing? I don’t really watch TV or listen to the radio. I watch streaming services and listen to streaming music or podcasts. That’s pretty typical for people in their 20s and 30s.
Email and social media is the best way to target a younger audience.
