I was watching the game last night, my brother gave me a call, it was at the time where Chricton slams a QLD player on his back, Klein awards a penalty tackled cited. Anyway he said to me soon the NRL will be playing touch football rules soon.

If that was regular NRL game he would be in the bin, that's exactly the kind of tackle they're trying to eradicate. The lifting and and then driving down when the player being tackled has no control of where he will end up, it can get very nasty very quickly

Cook provided some spark, but he also made spud errors like most of the NSW team. He was far from the worst.

NSW doesn't need another f**king Penrith rep, particularly one who's focus is on bringing in birds to bed while on camp. He f**ked up his chance.

I agree he should be in the team ahead of a club mate such as Martin on outright ability, but making an origin side more of a club side isn't going to win this series.

QLD played well because DCE has Munster, Ponga has Grant, Tino has Papali'i and Carrigan, etc. Guns who go to another level because they have other guns beside them, not their club plods.
Agree on Cook, he wasn't the worst for NSW but looked ineffective because nobody followed him from his dummy half scoots. Ehh, overall NSW lacked supporting one another the entire game. Teddy tried and tried but was always one out. Theme of the night really, our backs ate the meters up and the forwards were lagging.

Took me a while to work out your 'birds to bed' reference, i thought it was about Crichton and he did some weird shit with animals in camp. So slow today.
No need for Api, Cook can get the job done but we need everyone to lift. NSW's performance didn't fall on one players output.

The tackle was fine he landed on his back...judge the tacke for what it is not whether it will become more dangerous.

if a player gets smashed and their teammates carry on hard enough a penalty will generally be called. That tackle falls under the category of “good rugby league tackle”

officiating was disgraceful last night across the board. Flagging good balls as forward whilst letting some absolute howlers go.
Lifting legs above the horizonal and tackling into the ground in that motion has been a penalty since the mid 90s, and recently resulted in a sin bin or worse.

He got off lightly, let's be honest.

But it wasn't that kind of a tackle...

He lifted him and then drove him down, it could have been any kind of tackle, it was dangerous.

He was allowed to stay on the field because it's Origin and the "let's do it for the kids" attitude from referees takes a backseat

A couple of points. One I agree with those who pointed out how NSW players were rarely ever backing up players who made half breaks (e.g. Cook, Tedesco) which rendered their attack somewhat impotent. Further the lack of alternative general field kickers to Cleary didn't help, it enabled Qld's defence to focus on him all night, thus negating him.

Whilst Wighton played well, if you are going to have Crichton on the bench, if you bring him on, he should have been on the same side of the field with Brian To'o, and not inside Daniel Tupou. Why would you ignore a club combination which helped the Panthers win a GF last year? They should have looked at moving Wighton to the right side when Staggs had to go off.

As to Cleary and Luai in general play, they seemed to continually focus on the left hand side. Staggs, Tupou and Crichton may as well have sat down and drank tea as the ball only seemed to come out their way when Tedesco came out there. Also other than 1 or 2 kicks, what is the point of kicking to To'o's side with attacking kicks when Tupou is one of the best leaping wingers currently in the game? I have no idea what the halves were considering.

Finally our forwards need to work harder rucking the ball out. Payne Haas was the only NSW forward to make 100+ meters with ball in hand. Qld had at least 4. Also you need a good defensive specialist in your pack who might not be flash in attack, but will work hard on defence. Noi point if you have forwards who can score 1 try, but due to poor defence let in 2 tries.

There was one a few minutes later by a bloke on the other side and no-one batted an eyelid.

Some of you guys need to watch Penrith games more.

When do we ever go one out?

Players in motion. Great leg speed off the bench...Exactly what QLD did.

Poor selections got shown up. The loss is all on Freddy
