Just because a player plays for a club side that’s going well, it doesn’t mean that they’re necessarily the right type of player for Origin. This is something that NSW and our selectors have massively failed to comprehend and the main reason we’ve lost the series.

Penrith are a good example of that. Fantastic club team with fantastic structures no doubt, but their players (particularly the halves) have mostly shown to massively struggle out of it. Origin suits blokes that have vision and can play a bit off the cuff and change up the game plan when it’s not working…those players aren’t always from the top teams.

I can guarantee you that QLD wouldn’t pick Cleary over DCE just because Penrith are good and Manly are bad.
They would pick Cleary because he is better though.

Yes. Would have replaced them with Walker and either Hynes or Reynolds.

FTR I wouldn’t pick Walker now for a dead rubber at his age, but I think he would have been a lot better in game 1 when we had all of that position but the halves couldn’t do anything with it because the halves were struggling to read what was in front of them and play out of the Penrith structure. Don’t get me wrong, I think Cleary is a fantastic player, but his skills suit a structure rather than the off the cuff style that suits Origin.
Game 2 if walker played. With Cook next to him after Turbo gets injured, you think Walker would've done better then Luai? That's a big call. I don't think any 6 would've played well that night for nsw. I put the game 2 loss on Freddy for putting Cook at center and benching Martin and Murray. Luai gave Cook a few good balls but he butchered it. No fault of Cook because it wasn't his position. But to blame Luai for that game 2 loss is shocking. And also separating the best defensive Center-wing pairing of Critchon and To'o makes no sense at all. No way nsw would've won game 2 with Walker and Hynes.

I think he would have but it’s obviously all in hindsight now. Freddy has made a lot of errors in selections and coaching which I’m sure we can all agree on.

You are a f**kwit who knows nothing about Footy. Cleary is the current Australian halfback.. No idea mate.

It ain't hindsight. Before game 2 mostly everyone wanted Murray and Martin to start after game 1. Crichton and To'o always play we'll together. Young did nothing in game 1. Everyone questioned the Stefano call. And basically everyone wanted Murray at center and Cook at hooker. Some of Freddy's calls were shocking

Talakai last year had the same response

Wouldn't suprise me if Slater let NSW win this one convincingly so Freddy gets an extension.
Yep they only way NSW win with this team is if QLD let them or spend the whole week on the piss instead of training.
It might work in their favour to do so because Fittler would pick them all again next year thinking 'they got the job done for us last year' :(

Don't worry Brandy will appear on 360 & the panel will all crap on about how good the team looks, then bag the s...t out of selections in the next segment

This is what happens when you have too many players to pick from, and no succession planning.

Really shouldn't be that hard.

Pick a style you want the side to play, pick players to play that way.

changing from game to game isn't working

It's funny how some in here are blaming the panthers players for the nsw demise. But you take those players out of the team and you end up with a more rubbish team.
I'm glad they dropped Luai so they can blame someone else. He was never the problem in the first place. Fittler picking young on the left edge was shocker. He should've picked Olaku'atu because his style suited Luai's game. He plays similar to Kikau. Walker has no footwork and he'll struggle again against qld.

Luai missing out is a huge win for the Panthers
f**k off idiot, Young played well in game one and even better in game two. Blind idiots in this place.
