Yet again we are disregarding the record breaking season the NRL is having both attendance and ratings wise due to AFL out-attending (sadly, standard) / pulling more ratings this finals series (Unsure if this is standard as well?). Just be appreciative that we are still way ahead in the ratings, and have for the first time reached 4 million+ spectators. Season is nearly over as well, and we can hope that we pull more than last years GF in both ratings and attendance too.

Apples and oranges, regular season AFL games often have to compete with other AFL games due to having more games that air for longer.

AFL finals are the jewel in the AFL’s crown as SOO is with us, looking at all metrics AFL is clearly the dominant football code in Australia, the money they are able to generate the NRL simply cannot compete with unfortunately.

Need to get the message out properly

afl added a magic round this year and despite that their overall ratings mayve actually fallen

obviously been a huge boom in nz too which isn’t being counted

Open your eyes, AFL is growing in NSW and QLD, that is fact, RL is stagnating in AFL states, unless it’s NRL finals or SOO they don’t want a bar of it.

AFL are drafting dozens of players from NSW and QLD every year, prediction is 5 first round draftee’s this year will be from QLD (Can’t remember where I read it though), how many NRL players are we recruiting from AFL dominated states? 1? 2? 0? Yep, we’re dominating lol

I like PR, says it how it is, the rest of the shit on here resembles war time propaganda, bunch of petrified little girls throwing dummy spits because someone doesn’t think NRL is undisputed king of Australia, there are many sports ahead of Australia’s 2 most popular football codes on an international scale lol, ten pin bowling for one, now let that sink in.

Fear, insecurity, jealousy, all paths to the darkside. Or maybe it’s just tribalism lol

rl has more casual fans, afl has more committed fans, afl earns more money. That’s pretty much the reality.
if nrl wants to tackle the areas afl is ahead then it needs to get much better in a number of areas. Expansion being one, tv negotiations being the other.

theres a bit of a late 80’s/early90’s vibe about the nrl at the moment, let’s hope they capitalise on it long term this time.
Late 80's/Mid 90's Vibe you mean.
