This is pretty annoying to me because it reflects the current player welfare issue that the NRL is just choosing to ignore. Game is faster and more physical than ever but we expect players to play 24 games and some within 48 hours of each other? It's madness, of course players are going to break down.

There needs to be a real conversation around players workloads and the effect State of Origin has on what is supposed to be the 'main' competition.

20 teams, 19 rounds, rep breaks for stand alone origin / NRLW origin / Junior origin / Pacific tests.

Add in a 7s comp and a proper rep calendar and we have plenty of footy.

20 teams in 2 conferences , 10 teams per conference, play each other twice. Top 4 play -offs with the remaining top 2 from each conference to play each other in a finals series for the right to play in the GF
